Combine Is Key For Redskins Scouts
Posted by on February 19, 2013 – 3:19 pmRedskins Director of Player Personnel Scott Campbell is entering his 27th NFL season and his 13th with the Washington Redskins. Campbell originally joined the Redskins staff in 2001 as Director of College Scouting and in 2008 he was promoted to his current role as Director of Player Personnel.
As son of Marion Campbell, former head coach for the Atlanta Falcons and the defensive coordinator for the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles (1980), Scott’s NFL background is an extensive one to say the least, serving in numerous roles throughout his tenure in the league.
Fans sometimes look at the NFL season within the microscope of a five month season and yearly April draft. However, for Scott Campbell and the other team scouts, championships are won and/or lost in the time spent off of the gridiron. Read more »

Cousins, Compton Honor Sweetness
Posted by on August 21, 2012 – 10:15 amThe Washington Redskins’ offense had much to celebrate in the fourth quarter of its preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Saturday.
Exactly how they would celebrate scoring plays was apparently predetermined — at least for quarterback Kirk Cousins and offensive lineman Tom Compton.
Playing at Chicago’s Solider Field, the Redskins teammates decided to honor Bears’ great running back Walter Payton by trying to recreate his famous jumping hand slap with teammate Todd Bell after Payton broke the NFL’s all-time rushing record in 1984.

Rookie Spotlight: Tom Compton
Posted by on August 4, 2012 – 8:52 amEach day during training camp, the Redskins Blog will be highlighting one rookie as they participate in their first professional camp and try to find their way onto the final roster. Today’s spotlight is on offensive tackle Tom Compton.
Tom Compton has seen a few of his fellow offensive linemen battle through injuries as his first training camp gets underway.
But Compton — the Redskins’ sixth-round pick out of South Dakota — doesn’t think about when his number might be called to fill in a hole along the line.
That’s because he’s too busy thinking about improving each day. Worrying about his spot in the rotation, Compton said, is for the birds.
“Regardless of if guys go down or not, you always have the mindset that you’re just one or two plays away from stepping in,” Compton said this week after a morning walk-through practice at Redskins Park. “So you have to be preparing so well to be in the position that, whether guys go down or not, you focus on what you’re doing to make yourself the best you can be.”

Rookie Offensive Lineman Gets Feet Wet
Posted by on May 22, 2012 – 9:34 amThere’s something to be said about that first day of the season when you’re finally allowed to run drills against your teammates — and not go against tackling dummies.
Redskins’ rookie offensive tackle Tom Compton said he felt that freedom Monday in his first-ever round of organized team activites at Redskins Park.

Compton Adjusts To Balmy D.C. Weather
Posted by on May 9, 2012 – 3:15 pmGoing out for a drive in a South Dakota winter isn’t exactly the easiest thing in the world.
Just ask Redskins offensive lineman Tom Compton, the 193rd pick (sixth round) in this year’s NFL Draft.
Compton recently caught up with ESPN 980 and talked about, among other things, the blistering cold winters in South Dakota, where he attended college for five years.
