Survivors Celebration Fun Time For All
Posted by on October 2, 2012 – 2:35 pmKendra Cofield watched in amazement as four breast cancer survivors had professionals applying makeup to their faces.
Yes, the four women looked amazing, but, you see, makeup just has never really been Cofield’s thing.
“Honestly, I don’t really know how to put on makeup too well,” Cofield admitted with a smile. “So I like the whole makeup counter we have going on here. I’m trying to pick up some tips.”
Cofield, the wife of Washington Redskins nose tackle Barry Cofield, was one of several Redskins’ wives or girlfriends helping out Tuesday at the fifth-annual All-Star Survivors Celebration at Redskins Park.
The area women participating in Tuesday’s celebration are currently battling breast cancer and receive new wigs, scarves, makeup, jeans and a custom-made pink and burgundy Redskins jersey.
“I was so excited when I found out about the event because breast cancer touches so many different people’s lives,” Cofield said. “I just felt it was so important to be a part of this event, which is such a happy time for them where they can come and be completely pampered and spoiled. It just gives them a break from the daily grind of what they have to go through.”
Cofield said, like so many others, she has been personally affected by breast cancer.

Posted by on November 11, 2011 – 12:18 pmOn Thursday, Nov. 10, during its 98th Annual Meeting in Atlanta, the American Cancer Society awarded the NFL with of the Corporate Philanthropy Impact award. Redskins All-Star Survivors Celebration
Posted by on October 11, 2011 – 4:09 pmThis afternoon was the fourth annual All-Star Survivor Celebration at Redskins Park, which welcomed women that are currently battling breast cancer to come share in an afternoon of luxury.
Redskins tight end Chris Cooley and his wife Christy, were joined by Tanya Snyder, wife of Redskins owner Dan Snyder, to host the event. Tanya Snyder is a breast cancer survivor herself, having been diagnosed and treated in 2008. For obvious reasons, this event means a great deal to her.
“Today is about having fun and being inspired, and knowing that it’s going to be okay–hang in there,” she said. “A lot of these women, they have kids at home, they have a lot to fight for, and it is tough. It is tough to go through what they’re going through, and for them to have an enjoyable day, and even a life-changing day, we want to lift them up and get them through this hardship.” Read more »

Redskins Hand Out Food At The Harvest Feast
Posted by on November 23, 2010 – 2:30 pm
If that’s a picture of Albert Haynesworth standing in front of a mountain of turkeys — and it is — then it must be the day of the Harris Teeter-Redskins Harvest Feast Presented By Ryan Homes. This is the third Harvest Feast I’ve attended (the eighth year it has been held), and it impresses me every single year: more than 3,500 turkeys are distributed to Prince George’s County residents in need by members of the Redskins and 400 corporate volunteers.
“It’s estimated that this will feed 21,000 Prince George’s County residents in need,” Tanya Snyder — wife of owner Daniel Snyder — explained.
It’s an enormous undertaking, and a huge stretch of the concourse at FedExField is broken down into stations for people to walk through and receive bags of dry goods, of kids food, of produce, and — at the end — a turkey.

The Women Of Washington Redskins Walk For Fitness
Posted by on November 13, 2010 – 4:41 pm
That’s Roxi McNabb, wife of QB Donovan, and Christy Cooley, wife of tight end Chris, walking together just before the start of today’s Fit For You 5K at National Harbor. The Women Of Washington Redskins assembled prior to the start of the race to send off the runners before leading the group of walkers, and Cooley’s holding the sign up to help guide the group to the stage. Tanya Snyder, wife of team owner Daniel, held a similar sign aloft on the stage.
It might seem like a minor detail. But the signs, with their new official-looking logo and enthusiastic exclamation point, seem to represent a moment for this group, as the Women Of Washington Redskins take another step from just being a group of Redskins’ wives and toward being a visible, recognizable ambassador for the team.
McNabb seemed both pleased and mildly surprised with how the group was coming together, and she has a broader frame of reference than some. “Just in the first nine weeks of the [regular] season, I think we’ve done more charity work and been together and worked out with each other more than I think I’ve done in … you know, eleven years with the other team we were with.” (Oh, did the McNabb’s come here from somewhere else? I had no idea. You’d think someone would’ve mentioned that at some point.) Read more »
