It is hard to put into words how excited everyone at Redskins Park is as we head to Richmond for training camp. As the remaining days until #SkinsCampRVA quickly disappear, I want to take this opportunity to remind you to grab your free pass to Redskins training camp. Of course you need to make sure when the guys are practicing too, so make sure to sync the Redskins training camp calendar into your smartphone today.

As you are all probably already too aware of, it’s Monday. While Mondays usually aren’t the most anticipated day of the week, hopefully I can help it pass by a little quicker with this week’s Social Media Spotlight. Before we start this week’s spotlight, though, let’s take a quick review of last week’s edition.

We covered fullback/part-time artist Eric Kettani‘s very heart-warming photo from the Redskins Week 13 victory against the New York Giants, a sneak peak at defensive lineman Chris “Swaggy” Baker’s first single, and more.

As their vacations have come to a close, the players have changed their focus from enjoying their time off to getting a head start on the season ahead.

This week, wide receiver Pierre Garcon tweeted out humbling advice to his followers, defensive lineman Adam Carriker made an odd prediction for Dr. Seuss, linebacker Keenan Robinson showed off his training mask, linebacker Brandon Jenkins gives up Twitter and wide receiver Aldrick Robinson reminds us of the best Thanksgiving meal of them all–a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys in their own house.

As we patiently await the arrival of training camp (15 days away), we are forced to look a little harder to find out what’s going on in the lives of the Washington Redskins. Thankfully, social media provides us a great window into their lives off the field.

In their free time, Redskins players have accomplished and seen many different things this offseason.

Last week’s Social Media Spotlight reviewed Adam Carriker’s treasure seeking companion, Nick Sundberg’s travels around the world, Aldrick Robinson’s dedication to charity, Chris Chester’s thoughts on the offseason and Josh LeRibus’ Goo Goo Dolls experience.

This week is no different. Today, we dive into offensive lineman Kory Lichtensteiger’s golf outing, quarterback Kirk Cousin’s wardrobe “malfunction”, tight end Niles Paul’s gift to his old high school, a little bit of motivation from Adam Carriker, and of course, quarterback Robert Griffin III’s wedding.

As we wait for football to start back up, in what I like to call the offseason’s halftime, or the time between Organized Team Activities and training camp, the players are enjoying their time away from the football field.

Thankfully, with calendar’s flipping over to the month of July, we can gladly say that football is back this month!

Last week’s installment of our Social Media Spotlight series covered Josh Morgan’s fluffy new workout partner, a young Chris Baker, another chapter in the life of Mr. Outdoorsman (Reed Doughty) and more. If you did not get a chance to read last week’s Social Media Spotlight, check it out here.

In this week’s edition we follow players through different continents, their quests for treasure and more.

Today, we will discuss defensive lineman Adam Carriker’s treasure-seeking dog, offensive lineman Nick Sundberg’s travels through Europe, wide receiver Aldrick Robinson’s dedication to his community, offensive lineman Chris Chester’s thoughts on the offseason and offensive lineman Josh LeRibus’ trip to a Goo Goo Dolls concert.

This week’s Social Media Spotlight is presented by social media intern Jared Ross.

It has been one week since the players packed up their gear and headed home for a few weeks of relaxation and rest with their families before the start of training camp in July. For more information on the team’s first training camp in the heart of Virginia’s Capital, click here.

If you missed last week’s Social Media Spotlight, you squandered the opportunity read about wide receiver Pierre Garcon’s donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, a childhood memory from quarterback Robert Griffin III, Eric Kettani’s transition into active duty, and more.
In this week’s installment, we followed the players home on their first week after offseason activities to see how they will be spending their time away before defending their NFC East title. What we found was wide receiver Josh Morgan and his exercise buddy, safety Reed Doughty’s hiking adventures, a childhood photo of nose tackle Chris Baker, a photo of defensive end Adam Carriker and his “at-home” teammates and quarterback Kirk Cousins’ interesting interaction with a flight attendant.

Welcome to your weekly Redskins Social Media Spotlight, where we highlight the trendy topics and social media campaigns going on this week in Redskins Nation. Check it out and make suggestions below.

Last week’s Social Media Weekly Spotlight consisted of an inspirational quote from defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins, an update on the progress of quarterback Robert Griffin III (from Griffin III himself), offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus visits RGIII in Texas, and safety Reed Doughty goes fly fishing with his son.

Organized Team Activities (OTAs) started last week and Robert Griffin III was on the field practicing off to the side and gaining “mental reps”.  In fact, according to the rookie his wish for a separate space to toss the pigskin around with his fellow injured teammates was granted by head coach Mike Shanahan. A lot of positives came out of last week’s OTAs, you can check out a complete recap of practice notes here.

Following the practice sessions, players returned home to enjoy the Memorial Day Holiday weekend with friends and family but since then have returned to Redskins Park for Round Two of their three week OTA schedule, which is as follows:

  • Second Week: May 28-30
  • Third Week: June 3-6

But on wayward for this week’s spotlight which includes kicker Kai Forbath’s view of Redskins Park from high in the sky, undrafted free agent linebacker Will Compton giving credit where credit is due, wide receiver Pierre Garçon tweets he’s ready for game action, and cornerback Richard Crawford gives his thoughts on something we’ve all been guilty of at least once or twice in our lifespan.

If you missed it, make sure you go back and read last week’s spotlight. It looked at a little (non-serious) tiff between two roommates, Mother’s Day wishes from players to their Mom’s, tight end Logan Paulsen‘s mistaken identity and more!

But moving on to this week and what Redskins players are doing and saying in the socialsphere.

Organized Team Activities (OTAs) start today and that means one thing Redskins fans, football is back and the season is just around the corner. All of the players have returned to Redskins Park for three days of OTAs (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday). The exact practice time’s for the next two weeks of practice sessions has yet to be determined but, if we base it off of years prior, should have a somewhat similar look to this week’s sessions.

Here’s a basic overview of the schedule:

  1. First Week: May 20-23
  2. Second Week: May 28-30
  3. Third Week: June 3-6

So without further ado, we bring you this week’s Social Media Weekly Spotlight, stacked full with an inspirational quote from defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins, an update on the progress of quarterback Robert Griffin III (from Griffin III himself), offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus visits RGIII in Texas, and safety Reed Doughty goes fly fishing with his son.
