We are in the final few days of the football news “dry spell” as several teams are kicking off their training camps later this week. Your 2012 NFC East division champion Washington Redskins, start camp next Thursday!

If you missed last week’s Social Media Spotlight, you can read about quarterback Robert Griffin III’s wedding, quarterback Kirk Cousin’s wardrobe malfunction, Kory Lichtensteiger’s golf outing and more.

In an attempt to make the few days left before training camp pass by as quickly as possible, I present to you this week’s Social Media Weekly Spotlight.

Players are currently enjoying their last days of vacation before the rigors of training camp, preseason and most importantly of course, the regular season. In this edition, we cover fullback Eric Kettani‘s artistic ability, a throwback photo from last season’s week 13 victory against the New York Giants (#HTTR), defensive lineman Adam Carriker’s workout war paint, football camp with quarterback Kirk Cousins, and a little bit of swag from the big man himself, defensive lineman Chris “Swaggy” Baker.

This week’s Social Media Spotlight is presented by social media intern Jared Ross.

As the start of the season inches ever so close, the Redskins are getting back to the grind, preparing to start of the 2013 right. They have finished up their Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and are now heading into mini-camp. This marks the last full week of football until training camp starts on July 24th in Richmond.

If you did not get a chance to read it, make sure to read last week’s social media spotlight to catch up on the latest news from the Redskins in the social media realm. Last week we discussed safety Reed Doughty’s trip to Dover International Speedway, some interesting poetry by defensive lineman Adam Carriker, kicker Kai Forbath’s visit to a USA soccer match, and more.

This week we review player’s tweets as they finished up their final week of OTAs. Included in this week’s social media spotlight is tight end Niles Paul’s new facial hair addition, defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins’ photo with some of his fellow lineman, offensive lineman Chris Chester and his game of thrones marathon, a motivational message from running back Chris Thompson, and linebacker Will Compton’s throwback to 2006.

Welcome to your weekly Redskins Social Media Spotlight, where we highlight the trendy topics and social media campaigns going on this week in Redskins Nation. Check it out and make suggestions below.

If you missed it, make sure you go back and read last week’s spotlight. It looked at a little (non-serious) tiff between two roommates, Mother’s Day wishes from players to their Mom’s, tight end Logan Paulsen‘s mistaken identity and more!

But moving on to this week and what Redskins players are doing and saying in the socialsphere.

Organized Team Activities (OTAs) start today and that means one thing Redskins fans, football is back and the season is just around the corner. All of the players have returned to Redskins Park for three days of OTAs (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday). The exact practice time’s for the next two weeks of practice sessions has yet to be determined but, if we base it off of years prior, should have a somewhat similar look to this week’s sessions.

Here’s a basic overview of the schedule:

  1. First Week: May 20-23
  2. Second Week: May 28-30
  3. Third Week: June 3-6

So without further ado, we bring you this week’s Social Media Weekly Spotlight, stacked full with an inspirational quote from defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins, an update on the progress of quarterback Robert Griffin III (from Griffin III himself), offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus visits RGIII in Texas, and safety Reed Doughty goes fly fishing with his son.
