The Washington Redskins last Sunday dominated in their 41-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at FedExField. A big part of that attack was the Redskins’ defense, which tied a team record with 10 sacks in the game.

With so many sacks in one game, it can often be confusing at that exact moment for an official scorer to determine who should — and who shouldn’t — be credited with the play. So oftentimes, teams will contact the league and Elias Sports Bureau throughout the next week to clear that up.

Elias then typically meets with the league office to review certain plays.

That’s what happened this week for the Redskins, who got some clarity on a few plays from Elias researchers.

Several Washington Redskins players traded in their shoulder pads for aprons and name tags Monday evening.

Outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan hosted his second-annual Blitz For The Better Celebrity Waiter Night at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Arlington, Va., where Kerrigan and nine of his teammates spent a couple hours serving hors d’oeuvres and mingling with fans — and all for a great cause.

Kerrigan started his Blitz For The Better foundation last year to provide opportunities, support and resources to children and families in need in the Washington, D.C. area — particularly for children who have serious illnesses, special needs or are physically challenged.

Kappa Alpha Psi Has Strong Redskins Connections

Posted by Andrew Walker on August 10, 2014 – 9:38 pm

Founded more than 100 years ago on the campus of Indiana University, the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity boasts a rich history of brotherhood and leadership across the country – and around the world.

Over the span of a century, Kappa Alpha Psi has produced almost 200,000 collegiate members at more than 700 chapters across the globe.

So it should probably come as no surprise that the Redskins currently have several Kappas amongst them.

Those Kappas had a reunion of sorts Saturday afternoon at the Redskins’ training camp practice at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond, Va.

RGIII ‘Strongest Bet’ To Bounce Back

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on April 18, 2014 – 11:30 am

No player had to answer for a 3-13 season in Washington quite like Robert Griffin III in 2013.

The 2012 AP Rookie of the Year spent his second professional season fielding questions about the health of his surgically reconstructed knee, unity in the locker room and his relationship with his head coach.

According to NFL Media Around The League writer Marc Sessler, Griffin III should have much better things to talk about in 2014. Sessler listed the quarterback as his top bounce-back candidate for 2014.

There’s been lots of chatter lately about Redskins uniform numbers — who’s wearing what, who’s not wearing what, who wants to wear what, etc. — so this topic certainly isn’t just simple offseason fodder (and see the bottom of this post for more uniform number updates, including DeSean Jackson’s).

But when two players make an arrangement for a uniform number that benefits children, well, that’s just the deal of all deals.

That’s what’s happened between third-year Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins and recently-acquired wide receiver Andre Roberts

Ryan Clark Announced Return On Sean Taylor’s Birthday

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on April 2, 2014 – 10:26 am

The timing of Ryan Clark’s signing had to be kismet.

The veteran safety reportedly met with the Washington Redskins in March but could not agree on a deal at the time. After weeks of negotiations, Clark announced he rejoined the Redskins on what would have been Sean Taylor’s 31st birthday. The team made the deal official Wednesday morning.

Clark and Taylor safeties forged a close friendship from 2004-05, when they made up half of Washington’s secondary before Clark went to Pittsburgh.
