Today, it’s another rookie member of the Redskins backfield who is being recognized for his incredible first season in the NFL. However, this Offensive Rookie of the Year signal caller needs no introduction.
Quarterback Robert Griffin III comes in at number 31 on the PFF list of ‘Top 101 of 2012’.

RGIII Appears On Cover Of ESPN Magazine
Posted by on May 3, 2013 – 4:31 pmQuarterback Robert Griffin III has helped usher in a new era to Washington, D.C., a new vibe that has DMV-area Redskins fans on the edge of their seats for next season.
On the football field, No. 10 was a key ingredient in helping put together a phenomenal season. He received the individual accolades (NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year). He epitomized the definition of what it means to be the ultimate teammate leading the cavalry to a NFC East Title. He had Redskins fans across the nation remembering the glory days of the 1980 Super Bowl Championships and January thrill rides.
To say the least, Griffin III’s fascinating allure and grandioso excitement followed him from Copperas Cove, TX, where he won the Heisman trophy, to the Nation’s Capital.
Those reasons, plus many more, are why Griffin III appeared destined to someday grace the cover of ESPN The Magazine. It just so happens that his day would be today as cover boy of the magazine’s 15th year anniversary issue which hit newsstands this morning.

Griffin III Gives Update On Knee
Posted by on March 26, 2013 – 8:58 pmText message from Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, via Trey Wingo at ESPN, providing an update on his knee.
“My knee is getting better every day. The doctors say I’m ahead of schedule. My goal is to return healthy in week one but if I’m not ready then I will wait until I am, however long that is. My first NFL season and my injury that ended it showed me a lot about the league, my team and myself. I know where my responsibility is within the dilemma that led to me having surgery to repair my knee and all parties involved know their responsibilities as well. I’m looking forward to playing the game we all love so much again and not behind at the negative. Thanks for the overwhelming level of support that I’ve received, sic ‘em bears and hail to the redskins!!”

Bracket Update: Ranking The Players
Posted by on March 25, 2013 – 3:36 pmSince it’s not football season and there’s no Redskins football on TV, let’s assume that everyone’s attention has turned, at least for the next three weeks, to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Call it crazy but March Madness is a force to be reckoned with at this time of year because of all the pageantry surrounding nail-biting finishes, Cinderella stories and upsets galore.
The bottom line is that the tournament is arguably one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year, other than the Super Bowl, and captivates audiences across the Nation.
Why try to fight it? Plus, Redskins players seem to be having some fun with the tournament so why can’t we?

Finding Impact Players In The 2nd Round
Posted by on March 20, 2013 – 3:45 pmThere’s no mystery that the Redskins are the only team without a first round pick in the draft and the likelihood of trading into the first round is slim to none. But hey, the team quote, unquote ‘mortgaged’ the future for last year’s second overall pick.
How’d that end up working out?
Well, the pick paid immediate dividends. It produced the consensus NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, the team’s first NFC East Championship since 1999 and a playoff berth.
Credit the coaching staff and front office for being proactive and making a deal the Rams couldn’t refuse in order to move up and take QB Robert Griffin III. Franchise quarterbacks with Griffin III’s raw talent and ability come around once in a blue moon and the team did what they needed to do to snatch the Heisman trophy winning quarterback.
There’s absolutely no reason to be discouraged that the team’s first selection will come on day two of the draft. And hey, impact players can be found in the second round, especially in a deep draft like this one.
Here’s a list of a few of the players selected in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft who started and produced immediately for their respective teams.

Redskins Social Media Weekly Spotlight
Posted by on March 11, 2013 – 5:29 pmWelcome to your weekly Redskins Social Media Spotlight, where we highlight the trendy topics and social media campaigns going on this week in Redskins Nation. Check it out and make suggestions below.
Last week’s Social Media Weekly Spotlight covered WR Niles Paul and his former Nebraska Cornhusker teammates doing the Harlem Shake, NT Chris Baker’s plea for 10k Twitter followers as well as a mural from Washington D.C.’s own WR Joshua Morgan.
Admittedly so, most people probably don’t get as far as clicking the link to read these weekly social media updates. Contrarily, some of you may be reading this and say, ‘Who cares about the Redskins Social Media Weekly Spotlight?’ To that, we say that it’s time to start taking social media seriously.
Fact of the matter is that social media has rapidly integrated itself into our everyday lives.
For those of you who continue to read, here’s a look at K Kai Forbath and LB Ryan Kerrigan as they hit the links, QB Robert Griffin III’s return to Baylor, LB London Fletcher‘s preparation for season 16 and G Chris Chester‘s odd, and forgettable, experience at his local gym.

Williams Trains With College Teammate
Posted by on March 5, 2013 – 12:20 pmVikings running back Adrian Peterson and Redskins’ left tackle Trent Williams. One turned in one of the finest single-season rushing performances in NFL history. The other blocked for the best Redskins’ rushing performance in 80 years.
Now both players are working together to get better.
Just months removed from an ACL reconstructive surgery, Peterson started Week 1 of the 2012 season and finished the year just eight yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s 2,105-yard season. He started in the Pro Bowl for the NFC squad, and would have played behind Williams, who has become one of the best left tackles in the NFL.
Williams anchored a Redskins’ line that blocked for the best single-season rushing performance in franchise history (Alfred Morris, 1,613 yards), as well as the top rushing attack in the league with 2,709 yards on the ground.
No. 71 allowed just three sacks this year, despite the challenge of matching up against some of the premier pass rushers in the NFL today. In fact, Pro Football Focus rated Williams as one of the best players in the league this season in their “2012 Top 51″ list.
So after an incredible turnaround this season, how does the budding star improve on his 2012 season? The answer is simple. If you want to be the best, then you have to train with the best.
