MIC’D UP: Baker Active At Play 60 Event
Posted by on November 16, 2012 – 11:00 amChris “Swaggy” Baker knows the importance of trying to stay in shape as a youngster in his early teens.
Baker said he was about 6-feet tall and weighed around 200 pounds by the time he was 10 years old, so his incredible size and strength was both a blessing and a curse.
Baker and running back Alfred Morris on Tuesday went to Godwin Middle School for an NFL Play 60 event in which the 2012 Play 60 Super School of the Year was also awarded a $10,000 check to further physical education.
Baker talked with the kids about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and then let his actions do the talking by going through the various Play 60 stations with the students (see above).

Spoiler: the video ends with Baker and a group of students imitating “Happy Days” character Arthur Fonzarelli (see right).
Anyway, Tuesday’s event certainly wasn’t the first time the colorful Baker has been caught on camera showing off his swagalicious style.

The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders had their time in front of the cameras Thursday night at FedExField, as the Redskins Broadcast Network was shooting its WRC video capsules for the 2012 season.
The ladies were revealing all kinds of information, including an interesting fact about themselves and their favorite memories being the First Ladies of Football.
After the shoot — which ended around 7:30 p.m. Thursday — the team immediately went back into their studio for another hard practice to perfect their routines for Sunday’s home game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Here’s the behind-the-scenes photos from Thursday’s video shoot, via the Redskins Instagram account:

Steve Jackson Talks About This Season, Mentions The Super Bowl
Posted by on May 19, 2011 – 3:10 pmSafeties coach Steve Jackson recently sat down with Amanda Mitchell of the Redskins Broadcast Network for an interview about where things stand this offseason. If you haven’t seen it on Redskins Nation on Comcast SportsNet, you can watch part 1 below. And if you’re the less-visual sort, new Redskins.com intern Ryan Gracia has written up some of the highlights, including some serious optimism on Coach Jackson’s part.
Redskins.comWell, Redskins fans, the past is the past. And the new 3-4 defensive system has taken some getting used to – but not for long. The time to jump from the second-worst defense in the NFL to the top-ranked defense is now, at least according to safeties coach Steve Jackson.”Being a new staff last year, the guys were still getting to know each other,” Jackson told Amanda Mitchell in an interview that aired on Comcast SportsNet’s Redskins Nation. “It was a new system, you have to have a different type of personnel for this system. And just getting all those combinations of things together, I think we’ll be miles ahead of where we were last year. I don’t buy into that ‘it takes a long time to do this.’ You are, in my opinion, what you think you are and what you do daily. If you think it’s going to take you five years, well it’ll probably take you twenty. If you think you’re going to do it today, you do it today and you don’t expect anything less.”
To hear Jackson explain it, it’s a simple recipe for success.

Video From Redskins Cheerleaders In Iraq
Posted by on March 29, 2011 – 12:24 pmLate last week, I posted some video shot by the Redskins cheerleaders during their trip to Kuwait. In last night’s Nightly News, we got to see the next step in their tour as they visited with troops in Iraq. (It starts with a brief update from Larry Michael about the compensatory draft pick, but I promise it’s the correct video.)

In Case You Missed ‘Inside The Redskins’
Posted by on March 14, 2011 – 1:03 pmLate last week, I enjoined you to watch Inside The Redskins on Saturday night. And some of you did, of course. But some of you missed it — maybe because you’re out of market, maybe because of basketball, or because you actually go out on Saturday nights, maybe because you forgot … whatever. If you’re in that latter group, it’s your lucky day: you can view the entire program through the magic of the Information Superhighway just below. Interviews with the offensive and defensive coordinators, a goodbye to Clinton Portis, and the story of the Redskins Cheerleaders going to Iraq. Enjoy.

Brothers Of The Legacy, Part 5
Posted by on January 28, 2011 – 2:17 pmFor me, this is the best part of the entire Brothers Of The Legacy documentary. Yes, I know that Sonny Jurgensen was one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game. I understand that Sam Huff was similarly one of best, most violent linebackers in league history. But I never got to see it, and watching it now is about learning or trying to understand a past fact.
All my life, though, Sonny and Sam have been part of the Redskins radio broadcasts. THAT I recognize. So seeing the early snippets of their separate media work, watching Frank Herzog and Larry Michael explain what it’s like being in the booth with them, getting a look at them while the game is going on in … that’s something that hits me on the visceral level.

Brothers Of The Legacy, Part 4
Posted by on January 27, 2011 – 3:50 pmVince Lombardi’s tenure with the Redskins was too short by any measure, but especially so if you ask Sonny Jurgensen. He says as much in this installment of Brothers Of The Legacy, he says it when asked about the Broadway show Lombardi … it’s something Jurgensen clearly feels. Lombardi, he always says, made the game simple for him — and the statistics show it. Under Lombardi, Jurgensen had one of his best seasons as a pro, completing 62 percent of his passes for 3,102 yards in just 14 games — the last time in his career that he would break the 3,000 yard plateau.
And that’s what this fourth installment of the documentary covers: not just Sonny Jurgensen and Sam Huff, but the coach who reignited both their careers: Vince Lombardi. (On a less somber, meaningful note, you get to see Jurgensen doing drills while wearing an old-school Curly W Washington Senators cap — there’s a screencapture after the jump.)
