2012 In Review: Top 5 Blog Posts

Top 5 Collage

Last night’s NFC East Division-clinching victory against the Dallas Cowboys at FedExField put the whipped cream on top of what has already been a very memorable 80th Anniversary year for the Washington Redskins.

The cherry, of course, only comes with another Lombardi trophy. That will be determined in 2013.

The Redskins and head coach Mike Shanahan in 2012 continued their rebuilding process by adding weapons on the offensive side of the ball; saw an unassuming rookie running back who was perfectly fine driving his 1991 Mazda to practice; released one of the most popular players in team history (only to bring him back); and a 37-year-old linebacker continued playing like he was a rookie — just to name a few memories.

Oh, and they drafted this kid out Baylor with the second overall pick in April’s NFL Draft.

Thanks to the magic of WordPress, we were able to scrap together the Top 5 Redskins Blog posts of 2012 on this, the final day of the year. These are ranked in order by number of views.

The Redskins Blog had a banner year in 2012, as our posts got more than 3.1 million total views from 201 countries around the world. That more than doubles the views from 2011, when we had a respectable 1.3 million of them.

So, without further ado, here’s the Top 5 Redskins Blog posts of 2012 (in reverse order):

Redskins Stay Very Active In Community

Posted by Brian Tinsman on December 24, 2011 – 10:34 am

Our good friend Kevin Ewoldt of Hogs Haven compiled the complete list of holiday initiatives in the community by the Redskins team and players.  Many of the links on the page link back to stories on the Redskins Blog, but it’s worth a gander.

This is one of the more active NFL teams in the community, and even with the influx of new players, the community spirit has flourished.  The Redskins have a storied tradition of being active in the community that they represent, and it’s good to see that maintained.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Redskins Featured In New ‘NFL Magazine’

Posted by Brian Tinsman on December 23, 2011 – 11:41 am

In case you haven’t heard the joyous news, the league has created an all new official publication called NFL Magazine.  As it describes itself in the first few pages, it is:

“…an all-access magazine that will take fans where no other publication can go.  In the coming months, we’ll be taking you inside coaches’ pregame meeting, peeking inside the NFL Command Center, taking a trip down memory lane to see where some of the biggest names in the league got their start and what made them who they are today.”

So, it’s along the same ilk of what we do on the Official Redskins Blog, but from a league perspective.  And it probably won’t have Angry Birds reviews or Epic Beard updates.

In the inaugural issue of the league’s new NFL Magazine, the Redskins get some pretty serious props for their work off the gridiron.  First we have love for the dynamic backfield duo of Darrel Young and Roy Helu helping out at recent Play60 Events:
