Thompson Ready To ‘Prove Critics Wrong’

Posted by Chris Herting on May 30, 2013 – 7:55 am

thompson_blog

The Washington Redskins selected running back Chris Thompson out of Florida State in the fifth round (154th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Coming out of High School, he was widely considered as one of the top all-purpose players in the country displaying both the quickness and versatility that would make any opposing tackler quiver in their cleats.

Thompson’s addition has some fans excited about the prospect of a ‘Thunder’ and ‘Lightning’ duo in combination with last year’s stud Rookie of the Year candidate, Alfred Morris (also a former ‘AMA’ participant).

Whether or not the above situation unfolds on the field remains to be seen; however, Thompson appears to be motivated to prove his critics wrong and today was just the next Redskins player in line to take part in a reddit AMA (“ask me anything”) interview hosted on the NFL subreddit.

In case you missed it, we’re bringing you some of the highlights from yesterday’s chat which included topics ranging from the transition from former Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel (Buffalo Bills) to Robert Griffin III and the name he would give to his feature dish at an NFL themed restaurant.

So keep reading and, trust us, you won’t be disappointed!

Redskins Weekly Social Media Spotlight

Posted by Chris Herting on January 14, 2013 – 10:34 am

The 2012 season will be remembered by the performances of two Pro Bowl-caliber rookies, a NFC East Championship, “sky-is-the-limit” expectations and, ultimately, a first-round exit at home. Success? Maybe. Step in the right direction? Absolutely.

We all know that a winning culture is not built through complacency, yet it is built on desire and a will to win that supersedes any one individual. Laying the groundwork for such success can sometimes be an elusive first step, but everyone can agree that the future is bright with this talented squad.

One thing is for certain after watching the Divisional round playoffs this weekend, the Redskins have a foundation in place to compete for a long time: a strong rookie class, veteran leadership, and let’s not forget the best fans in the NFL. Hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?

The groundwork has been laid and Redskins’ social media is here to bring YOU along for the ride and provide fans everywhere unique opportunities to engage with the team.

Morris’ ‘Welcome To The NFL’ Moment

Posted by Andrew Walker on December 6, 2012 – 5:30 pm

Alfred Morris AMA

Alfred Morris today revealed with those participating in his reddit AMA (“ask me anything”) interview that he finally had his “Welcome To The NFL” moment on Monday night vs. the New York Giants.

On 3rd and 3 with 1:07 left in a game that the Redskins were leading 17-16, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III handed the ball off to Morris as the Redskins relied on their rookie running back to seal the victory. He did just that, gaining six yards and earning the first down, and Griffin III was able to take a knee from that point to officially win the game for the Redskins.

Morris was asked today by redditor “brownboss”  what his “wow, I can’t believe I’m here” moment was:

“The Monday night 3rd [down] conversion,” Morris wrote.

It was just one of many terrific questions asked in his AMA, which will continue with linebacker/athlete/special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander next Thursday.

Here’s a recap of some of the better (OK, more off-the-wall) AMA questions for Morris today with his answers:

Kerrigan On Large Ducks, Movie Armrests

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 29, 2012 – 5:20 pm

Ryan Kerrigan says he’s more of a “numbers guy” and would rather fight one horse-sized duck than 100 duck-sized horses.

OK, I swear we haven’t completely lost it. This was just one of the many awesome questions Kerrigan addressed today in his reddit AMA (“ask me anything”) interview.

The Redskins became the first NFL team to partner with reddit for these AMAs, which will continue each Thursday for the remainder of the season. Kerrigan’s AMA today kicked the series off.

As it turns out, reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian is a huge Redskins fan.

“So many NFL teams — and television series, brands, and political campaigns — have active subreddits that they’re not tapping into,” Ohanian said. “The subreddits are created and maintained by super devoted fans — by engaging the subreddits, the teams could be directly connecting with some of their biggest advocates and evangelists.”

Here’s a recap of some of the better (OK, more off-the-wall) AMA questions for Kerrigan today with his answers:
