Rainy Monday Brings First OTA Indoors

Posted by Andrew Walker on May 22, 2012 – 11:08 am

A steady, annoying drizzle was the weather theme at Redskins Park Monday morning, so head coach Mike Shanahan decided to bring the team’s first round of organized team activities inside.

It was the first time Shanahan has been afforded that luxury. The team’s brand new indoor training facility was just recently completed, and its purpose is ideal for days like Monday.

“Perfect timing, eh?” second-year outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan said after Monday’s activities. “This is what we built it for, for days like this when the weather’s not cooperative.”

Tim Hightower Isn’t Afraid Of A Little Rain

Posted by Brian Tinsman on September 8, 2011 – 2:29 pm

Never a dry moment at Redskins Park.

Legend tells of a fiery orb that used to hang high in the sky.  That orb has been A.W.O.L. since Sunday afternoon, and is presumed to have drowned.

Another afternoon of practice and another muddy day out on the practice field:

Yesterday, head coach Mike Shanahan expressed some concern with running his players at full-speed in the unsavory conditions.  But when it rains every day for an entire week, how much choice do you have?

Running back Tim Hightower had a great perspective on the inclement weather: Read more »

Rain Descends On Warm Up

Posted by Brian Tinsman on August 25, 2011 – 7:30 pm

The skies have opened up in Charm City, and the few fans that had already gone to their seats, retreated for cover.

Earthquakes this week, thunderstorms today, hurricanes in the forecast; what’s next?

Keep your eyes open for a cloud of locust.

Long snapper Nick Sundberg and Sav Rocca are wisely out practicing punts and snaps in the downpour.  Sorry baseball fans, no rain delay for the NFL.  It takes lightning for that.

The last time that the Redskins had a game called in the preseason due to a thunderstorm was in 2007 against the Ravens on August 25, 2007.  The Redskins won that game 13-7 on a Dallas Sartz (linebacker) touchdown and two Shaun Suisham field goals before the game was called early in the third quarter.  That’s the last time the Redskins beat the Ravens in the preseason or regular season.

Rain the forecast seems like a good thing.

Here are some sights and scenes from outside of the stadium before the game: Read more »
