RG3 Leads Rookies In Pro Bowl Fan Voting
Posted by on December 20, 2012 – 2:50 pmThe NFL announced today that Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III led all league rookies and finished sixth overall in 2013 Pro Bowl fan voting.
Griffin III — who had 683,943 fan votes — only finished behind the Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers (777,827 votes) at the quarterback position in the NFC.
Fan voting — which ended Monday — is only one-third of the process of determining the AFC and NFC Pro Bowl teams. The league’s coaches and players cast their votes today and tomorrow, and the announcement of the 2013 Pro Bowl teams, including starters, will be made Wednesday, Dec. 26, in prime time (7 p.m. ET) on NFL Network’s “NFL Total Access Pro Bowl Selection Show.”
When asked yesterday about his league-wide popularity — ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell reported earlier this week that Griffin III had the top-selling NFL jersey ever in a single season — the quarterback said it’s “a tribute to the fans.”
