When They Score At Least 24 Vs. SD..

…They win.

They may not have Ron Burgundy in their starting lineup but the San Diego Chargers have a plethora of talent that entertains Southern California and gives Champ Kind enough excitement to do his evening sports segment for the Channel 4 News Team.

The Chargers are one of the last teams that come to collective mind of Redskins Nation. With homes over 2,500 miles apart and play against one another happening only once every four years, it’s easy to see why.

But as series history indicates this matchup is all about the streaks.

Dating back to the first meeting in 1973, the Redskins won the first six matchups before San Diego’s 30-3 win in 2001 started a three-game winning streak that still stands.

With Redskins-Chargers on the horizon, this week’s featured Redskins.com poll is asking you how many points YOU think the burgundy and gold will score against the Bolts.

Even the scoring has some fascinating streaks to follow.

Griffin Voted Biggest Rookie Impact In 2012

Posted by Brian Tinsman on April 27, 2012 – 12:15 pm

I’m not one for superlatives without substance, but a bold prediction is always of interest.  Enter Robert Griffin III to the discussion, and it seems like anything is possible.

The NFL Facebook page posted a poll earlier this week, in advance of the Draft, to determine which rookie fans were most excited about.  The actual question posed to fans was:

Which rookie will have the biggest impact in 2012?

And here are the results:

To LeBron, Or Not To LeBron?

Posted by Brian Tinsman on October 12, 2011 – 10:52 am

Good morning Redskins Nation.  Each of you have been promoted to General Manager of the Washington Redskins.  Congratulations!  Your first (and only) task is to make this decision:

Sadly, once you vote, you’re demoted back to devoted Redskins fanatic.  Not a bad resume builder though.

Has This Team Exceeded Expectations?

Posted by Brian Tinsman on October 8, 2011 – 10:00 am

A recent article by Gil Brandt of NFL.com, breaks down the teams that have exceeded, met, and disappointed preseason expectations.

After winning three-of-four to start the season, the Redskins are listed as a team that exceeded expectations:

Washington Redskins (27): This team is much better on defense. Their points allowed have dropped while the sack total has risen. They had seven sacks against the Rams. Still, Rex Grossman is the key. He must avoid bad plays, and to help him do that, Washington needs to run the ball more. If that happens, they can win the NFC East.

Lofty predictions for a team that was unanimously listed as last place in every preseason pontification.  But I would also argue that the premise of writing an article based on expectations is rather foolish, because everyone has their own expectations.

So I’ll turn this one over to you:

Since this is a team-focused team, we’ll keep the pregame predictions to units.  Who steals the show today?

Are You Ready For Some Football?

The band has taken the field and the players are descending into the tunnels for pre-game intros.

As a follow-up to the earlier poll about rivalry or not, the results were split almost exactly 50/50.  Incredible.  The separation between the two options was four votes.

I’ll be interested to see what the vote says after the game.

As we get set for kickoff, who needs to, and has, a big night tonight?

Who Are Your Top Performers?

Posted by Brian Tinsman on August 19, 2011 – 9:46 pm

You, the voters, selected John Beck as your first-half MVR(edskin).  His line for the day was 14-for-17 for 140 yards and a 101.0 quarterback rating.

That’s good enough to earn him a shot at top Redskins player in the game.
