Wednesday marks one week since DeSean Jackson officially signed with the Redskins. From that time on,  the deep threat’s recruitment, character and potential have all been hot topics in Washington. Here’s a sampling of what his head coach, his new teammates and a few Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks have said about the latest addition to the receiving corps.

Pierre Garçon Goes Yard In The Cage

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on March 31, 2014 – 11:19 am

Pierre Garçon could not receive the Sammy Baugh trophy in person.

The NFL’s 2014 receptions leader had Doug Williams accept the award in Washington, D.C., while he took a break from passing camp to practice walkoff cuts with the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

Ian Desmond and Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals were impressed.

Pierre Garçon Asks: Classy Or Ratchet?

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on March 17, 2014 – 2:41 pm

Things you might see at a St. Patrick’s Day polo match:

-Ascots in every shade of green.
-A non-ironic monocle with a green-tinted lens.
-Snifters containing green dyed port and brandy.
-Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garçon.
-A Bentley convertible painted with a glossy coat of Lucky Charms four-leaf clover color.

Pierre Garçon is visiting U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East for a weeklong morale-building tour coordinated by the NFL and USO.

Of course part of his time with service members included working on his hands.

“Being a part of this USO tour has been a very memorable experience for me, seeing everything the men and women in uniform do for us back home,” Garçon said,

“Talking with the troops and seeing the effects we had on them will live with me forever. I’m so happy I came on this trip and now I I’ve met some friends that I will remember forever. Thank you to the troops for all that you do.”

We’ll have a gallery of Pierre posing with military personnel and their armored vehicles up on Redskins.com, but  until then here are a few more pictures military service members shared on Twitter.  Read more »

I’ve been known to sketch, but my in no way are my skills on par with this child. I think this this fan drawing of Pierre Garçon from a few days ago is awesome, and the wide receiver agrees.

Good to see Pierre giving props.

Top Plays of 2013: Part Three

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on February 19, 2014 – 4:54 pm

(AP)

(AP)

Even throughout a losing season, certain moments made you stand up and shout. Special plays etch themselves into our memories, where they lie dormant until a trigger brings them to the surface. Redskins TV has produced a series looking back at the top plays of 2013. Which will you remember?

Part three features:

-David Amerson stopping San Diego’s Danny Woodhead at the goal line.

-Robert Griffin III going over the top for the first down against the Chargers.

-Darrel Young plowing through San Diego for three touchdowns.

-Pierre Garçon knocking a Viking to the turf.

-Young splitting two Philadelphia defenders and turning a short pass into a 62-yard score.

-Logan Paulsen snagging a one-handed touchdown against Kansas City.

#TBT: Pierre Garçon in Super Bowl XLIV

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 30, 2014 – 5:30 pm

On Feb. 7, 2010, Pierre Garçon scored the first touchdown of Super Bowl XLIV for the Indianapolis Colts.

Five days earlier, he wrapped a Haitian bandanna around his head and addressed the press at Super Bowl media day. At the time, the Haitian-American said he felt he needed to bring some attention to earthquake-stricken country.

Garçon played well in a 31-17 loss to New Orleans, catching five passes from Peyton Manning for 66 yards.

On Thursday, the Redskins receiver talked to Larry Michael and Brian Tinsman about his Super Bowl experiences before posting a picture of his mini flag on Instagram.  Read more »

Did Pierre Garçon Get Snubbed From The 2014 NFL Pro Bowl?

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 22, 2014 – 1:00 pm

(AP)

(AP)

At some point in the history of the universe somebody hitched the word to all-star exclusion.

I’ve said, heard and read “snubbed” enough times in the past two days to book a trip to Martha’s Vineyard solely for the purpose of using it both nautically and before a steeplechase.

My fixation stems from a timely question: Was Pierre Garçon snubbed from the Pro Bowl? Read more »

Where Is Pierre Garçon?

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 16, 2014 – 2:06 pm

You probably don’t care where I procure chicken, but I didn’t lead the NFL in receptions while setting a new single-season Redskins record.

Pierre Garçon posed a question on Twitter Thursday. Some of you answered correctly. Others have inferior knowledge of Pierre’s preferred poultry chain.

Hard Work Pays Off For Pierre Garcon

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on January 15, 2014 – 9:00 am

Pierre Highlight

Pierre Garçon balls so hard he should have a rap video.

Can’t you see it? Pierre and Robert Griffin III sinking putts, laying down rhymes and dancing in space tunnels while rotating fluorescent air suits?

I can’t make that happen, so here’s the next best thing, a gnarly mash-up of the Redskins’ single-season franchise leader in receptions (113) beasting over a B.o.B. track.
