This is not an elaborate Will Smith gag.

First Quarter Happenings: #WASvsPHI

The Redskins have one loss left. Maybe two. Okay, the NFC East is really bad. Maybe three.

In any case, nothing mathematically final will happen today, but the outcome of an away tilt in Philadelphia will be the strongest indicator of Washington’s postseason potential. By now you know the legend of 3-6. The Redskins have played poorly enough to put their backs against the wall. Sunday could be a last shot at redemption, or it could be one more case of what could have been.

Philadelphia has a different quarterback, but its most important cog remains the same. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb saying LeSean McCoy is the most elusive runner in the NFL. DeSean can Jackson can take the top off a defense.

Alfred Morris has been running better every week. If the Eagles are to stop him, sideline-to-sideline linebacker DeMeco Ryans will be key.

Is today the start of another miraculous streak, or is it one more nail in the coffin? Follow the first quarter in the live blog below. Read more »

The forecast in Philadelphia calls for a shower of boos and 100 percent chance of obnoxious verbiage in the bleachers.

At least the field should be dry. It shouldn’t be too cold either.

Check out the full weather report below.

Inside Sonny’s Office: No More Grudges

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on November 15, 2013 – 5:06 pm

Sonny Jurgensen roams Redskins Park on Fridays, posting up in his honorary office, a black leather couch in the lobby. There’s even a nameplate. Ever the opportunist, I like to visit with Sonny and solicit some blog material. This week’s brief chat covered his Philadelphia memories,  what the Redskins need to do in Week 11 and his thoughts on Nick Foles.

The old chip on his shoulder crumbled to pieces at some point.

In 1964, Philadelphia didn’t want Sonny Jurgensen. He made the Eagles pay.

Jurgensen looks at the game today and sees too many differences to hold a grudge. Shibe Park and Franklin Field no longer host NFL games.

When Jurgensen thinks of Philadelphia now, he thinks of visiting Tommy McDonald and looks back at one of the strangest days he had in an Eagles uniform.

Santana Moss’ Son Encountered One Nice Fan In Philadelphia

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on November 14, 2013 – 7:00 am

Don’t be deceived. Even the nicest looking fans in Philadelphia are merciless, throaty critics who indiscriminately spew a stream of invective at even the most innocent offender. At least that’s the stereotype.

Those Philadelphians (Philadelphites? Philadelphonics?) picked a fight with Clinton Portis’ mom.

They forced one of their own to plead for an end to the booing.

They booed my grandma for taking too long to write a $2.00 check for milk at the checkout counter. Okay that last one didn’t happen, but you see where I’m going with this.

Eagles fans are tough to please. They can be  intimidating for visiting fans. But according to Santana Moss, there’s at least one good guy at Lincoln Financial Field.
