The Redskins are hitting .625 in NFL Rookie of the Week awards this season.

With one week remaining in the 2012 regular season, Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III today was named NFL Rookie of the Week for the seventh time, this time for his performance last Sunday in the Redskins’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s  sixth straight week and 10th time overall a Washington rookie has won the award this season.

Vote Griffin III For Rookie Of The Week

Posted by Andrew Walker on December 24, 2012 – 11:11 am

The weekly NFL rookie award that has seen nine Redskins winners in the first 15 weeks of the 2012 season has, yet, another Washington player among its candidates for Week 16′s games.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III today was named a nominee for the NFL Rookie of the Week for his performance Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The quarterback completed 16-of-24 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns in the Redskins’ 27-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

First and foremost, here’s how YOU can vote for Griffin III as he tries to earn his seventh NFL Rookie of the Week award:

In his first-career NFL start, he helped propel his team to first place in the NFC East with two games left in the season.

For his efforts last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns — a 38-21 Washington victory — rookie Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has been nominated for two weekly NFL awards, and YOU can help him win.The NFL announced today that Cousins was a nominee for both the NFL Rookie of the Week and the NFL “Never Say Die” Moment of the Week — the latter of which Cousins actually won last week.

The Redskins are on a roll.

On the field, the team has built a four-game winning streak and remains in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Off the field, its players keep getting national recognition for their tremendous performances.

Griffin III’s Awards Help Community, Too

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 30, 2012 – 5:19 pm

Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III says he won’t reflect on his record-setting rookie campaign until after the season, but when his awards directly benefit the community, you can bet the Redskins quarterback will appreciate that fact immediately.

That was the case today, when Griffin III was named the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week, an award that comes with a $2,000 donation in each of the winning players’ names to their local offices of Junior Achievement.

It’s the second time Griffin III has won FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week award, so that means he’s sent $4,000 to the Washington, D.C., Junior Achievement office just based on his top-notch performances.

The FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week distinction was the third award Griffin III has won this week alone. Read more »

Morris, Griffin III For Rookie Of The Week

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 27, 2012 – 9:03 am

Redskins fans, you’ve got a tough decision this week, but it’s a problem that 31 other fan bases would love to have.

This week, both quarterback Robert Griffin III and running back Alfred Morris are nominees for the Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week award.

Both Griffin III and Morris have already won the award at least once this season. Griffin III — the reigning NFL Rookie of the Week — has won it an astounding four times so far this season, while Morris won the award after his top-notch performance Week 7 against the New York Giants.

So whatever method you choose to pick between Griffin III and Morris — whether it be ‘eenie meenie miney mo,’ rock-paper-scissors or just blindly poking your screen — do it, and do it often.

Voting is easy:

Vote Griffin III For Rookie Of The Week

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 20, 2012 – 8:39 am

(AP photo)

By Friday, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III could win his fourth Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week award — but it’s going to take another massive effort by Redskins fans to do it.

Griffin III was nominated for his near-perfect (and, by some standards, perfect) execution Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, a game in which the Redskins won, 31-6. He completed 14-of-15 passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for a game-best 84 yards.

Griffin III faces some tough competition in this week’s NFL Rookie of the Week voting, so here’s how to vote — and vote often:

Morris Named NFL Rookie Of The Week

Posted by Andrew Walker on October 26, 2012 – 5:09 pm

(AP photo)

Can we just go ahead and name the Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week award the “Washington Redskins Rookie of the Week award” yet?

The league announced today that Redskins running back Alfred Morris had earned his first-career Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week award. His quarterback teammate, Robert Griffin III, has already won the award three times this season.

So, by my math — and by “math,” I mean calculator — a Washington Redskins rookie has won the award about 57 percent of the time so far this season.

A huge credit goes to Redskins general manager Bruce Allen, head coach Mike Shanahan and their staff for making their 2012 draft class count to this point. Griffin III has been an absolute league-wide sensation, while Morris has simply been the best rookie running back in the NFL.

Speaking of the NFL Draft, Morris’ Rookie of the Week award puts him in elite company.

Vote Alfred Morris For Rookie Of The Week

A Redskins rookie is nominated for this week’s Pepsi Max NFL Rookie Of The Week award, and his name is not Robert Griffin III.

Running back Alfred Morris, who rushed for 120 yards on 22 carries last Sunday vs. the New York Giants, is one of five rookie nominees this week — and it’s well overdue.

Don’t get me wrong: Griffin III and his almost-weekly nominations have been more than warranted. He’s the clear NFL Rookie of the Year frontrunner near the halfway point of the 2012 season, and has won three Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week awards and was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Month for September.

But Morris is quietly building the best rookie running back campaign of the season. He leads all NFL rookies in rushing yards (658), attempts (138), yards per game (94) and 20-plus-yard rushes (five).

He’s on pace for about 315 carries for 1,504 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Those are Pro Bowl numbers.

So, in other words, Morris deserves your vote in this week’s Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week, and casting that vote is very easy.

Can Robert Griffin III make it a three-peat?

The Redskins rookie quarterback this week is nominated for the Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week, marking the third time this season he’s been one of five weekly nominees up for the award.

In the two other instances, Griffin III has been victorious, and you Redskins fans can definitely make it a third. Here’s how you vote:
