The winners have been announced!

After voting through more than 50 fan submissions, Washington Redskins fans have selected their Top 3 “Hail To The Beard” hairy contest winners.

1st Place– Jeremy Grant

2nd Place– Whesley Warner

3rd Place– Jim Weiner

Jeremy will take home an autographed Alfred Morris Jersey, Whesley scores a DeSean Jackson autographed football and Jim will now get to boast that he has a signed Ryan Kerrigan photo all thanks to the beard.

Those finishing in the top 10 will receive a Jack Black’s Prize Pack.

No-Shave-November Yields Few Honors

November is a month dominated by football, Thanksgiving, and the growth of beards and mustaches for a good cause.

Call it what you want: Movember, No-Shave-November; but it’s a good opportunity for Redskins players to put down the razors and show what they can grow.

Over the course of the month, the players that showed the most effort were receiver Niles Paul, offensive lineman Eric Olsen, and quarterback Jonathan Crompton.

Others tried, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Naturally, the two best beards on the team are linebacker Perry Riley and nose tackle Chris Neild.  As Neild is clearly the Grand Beard Master, I turned to him for a December 1st Facial Hair Recap.

Redskins Champion ‘No-Shave-November’

Born out of the storied mustache tradition of “Movember,” No-Shave-November encourages males too grow facial hair during the 11th month of the year.  Officially, the phenomenon of No-Shave-November is done in awareness of prostate cancer.

Unofficially, it’s cold outside and it’s a great excuse to grow a facial sweater, and many members of your Washington Redskins are jumping on board.

“I think I started No-Shave-November when I was a baby,” confessed kicker Graham Gano.  “I was born with a full beard, and the first thing that I demanded was some beard trimmers.  Yeah…April 9, 1987, that’s the day No-Shave-November started…of course, it didn’t really catch on until November though.”

Probed as to why he has only a light beard now, Gano responded, “Oh, I had to give it up, because people started thinking I was Santa Claus.  I keep it right about here (a two, for facial hair trimmers), because if I shave my face, I look like a child, and I get carded when I go places.”
