Week 8 Redskins Fantasy Roundup

If you were one to start one of the Washington Redskins last week then you’re probably still smiling from ear to ear and feeling pretty optimistic right now.

Waiting for a collective explosion, you got it in the form of five offensive touchdowns. Now before I get too ahead of myself, I’m not sure how many of you had Roy Helu Jr. on your team, let alone had him in your starting lineup, but before you fear that Shanahanigans is back or we have a classic touchdown vulture, Morris is still projected as a top-10 running back this week.

Factor in Denver’s porous defensive performance this season (30th in yards given up) with a highly confident offense that appears to be back in its groove and we have a concoction for points galore on Sunday.

Check out this week’s fantasy football projected point total/rankings and of course tip your hat to me for doing all of this below.

See Highlights From Coaches Film

Posted by Stephen Czarda on October 22, 2013 – 1:25 pm

Capture

With 298 yards through the air and an additional 84 on the ground, sophomore quarterback Robert Griffin III dazzled on Sunday.

The read-option’s effectiveness allowed him to remain calm in the pocket and let his receivers’ routes unravel as intended.

For No. 10, it was just another day at work, but with his duel-threat abilities shining the brightest since late last season, some were saying that the “old” RGIII was back.

Regardless of whether or not there is such a thing for a second-year player just months removed from surgery, I think we can all agree that seeing the game from a coach’s perspective would be pretty awesome.

I’ve always wondered what the guys in the booth see that makes them adjust on the fly. Now we know.

Here’s a little snippet of coaching film from Griffin III’s second quarter connection with Aldrick Robinson and his fourth quarter Houdini act that allowed Pierre Garcon to get open on a crucial third-down play.

Week 7 Redskins Fantasy Roundup

The Washington Redskins locker room has continued to remained calm, not allowing the emotions of a 1-4 start get the best of them. You on the other hand sir/ma’am Fantasy Football Coach are probably freaking out right now if you’re in a similar situation in your league.

Easy on the nail-biting, too.

Anyway, the offense is facing a tough task straight in the face on Sunday. Off by a few inches against the Cowboys resulted in incompletions. Off by a few inches against the Bears and interceptions will become the name of the game.

With Seahawks-Cardinals kicking off in a few hours, check out this week’s fantasy football rankings/projections roundup. As for my opponent this weekend, you can skip everything below.

Week 6 Redskins Fantasy Roundup

Sunday night’s matchup could be an offensive shootout between Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.

I don’t want to give the Cowboys too much credit now because there’s no need to go overboard after five games of the season–especially with them–but they are a top 10 offense at the moment.

Having said that, if the Redskins duplicate either performance against the arch-rival from a season ago then there will be a lot of smiling Redskins fans come Monday morning–and a lot of overly exuberant fantasy owners whose come-from-behind victory started with their decision to put a Redskin in their starting lineup.

I won’t take full credit, but I hope this fantasy projections and ranking roundup at least helps in the decision process unless you’re the owner of SkinsRule28. This week is mine!

How You Voted: Redskins-Packers

It’s that time of the week once again where Redskins Blog fanatics get a chance to see whether or not they have a future career in the physic palm reading business.

Each week we ask you before the game to vote on which player will have the best performance and which unit will shine brightest against the opposition. Last week of course, it was the Green Bay Packers. While the Redskins suffered a second consecutive bitter loss, there were a few standout performances of note, especially those who were on the ballot.

Here are the poll results along with how they performed in the game:

Back-to-Back, Jack?

Some divisions, like the AFC East, are dominated by one team year after year. The Patriots have seemingly won their division every season since the Beatles were still together (ok, only nine out of the last 10, but still).

The Redskins would love to achieve that level of dominance in their neck of the woods, and things are looking as good as they’ve been in many years, after winning the division last season and romping through the preseason.

However, repeating as NFC East champions has proven to be very elusive as of late.

It’s been almost a decade since any team (the 2003-2004 Philadelphia Eagles) went back-to-back as the No. 1 team in the division. All four NFC East teams are in big markets and have ownership groups who are very aggressive about winning, which makes for a highly competitive bunch, year after year. The NFC has almost certainly been the most competitive division in football, when taken as a whole over the past 30 years.

After nearly a decade of back-and-forth, the time is ripe for a back-to-back champ. But can the Redskins do it?

Leonard Hankerson’s Lifting The Weight

Posted by Stephen Czarda on August 20, 2013 – 3:22 pm

Third-year wide receiver Leonard Hankerson has a lot carrying in his ridiculously large hands this season.

Already physically opposing to most cornerbacks who line up against him, Hankerson’s third season could be the crossroads of his young career. On one hands, Hankerson’s already provided flashes of greatness in his 20 career NFL appearance with 706 yards and three touchdowns, to include two against the Browns in Week 15. Conversely though, he’s been plagued by drops, sometimes in the most untimely moments.

As the wide receiving corps continues to be inflated with talented weapons in a robust offense, Hankerson hopes to grab the competition like a 10-pound dumbbell.

Of course his gargantuan hands that could wrap around all of FedExField give him a palm up on the competition, but they also allow him to lift an absurd amount of weight that guys like me and you would gawk at.

As seen courtesy of his Instagram account (HankTime85), he’s not ready to lay down for the competition—unless he needs a spotter.

Can 2011 Draft Pick Be Breakout Star?

Posted by Stephen Czarda on April 16, 2013 – 10:09 am

Leonard Hankerson, Santana Moss

This time last year, the Washington Redskins were preparing to select Heisman-winning quarterback Robert Griffin III with the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Even with Griffin III in the fold, few were picking the Burgundy and Gold to climb out of the cellar of the NFC East, especially with a defending Super Bowl Champion on the schedule for two different tilts.

Well we all know that the Redskins ended up being the breakout team of the 2012 NFL season, storming into the playoffs by the way of a miraculous seven-game winning streak to end the season and besting their division rivals with a 5-1 record against the NFC East.

With OTAs officially underway at Redskins Park, find out who ESPN’s Matt Williamson believes will be the breakout player for the 2013 campaign including a video of his best play of the 2012 season here:

Bracket Update: Ranking The Players

Posted by Chris Herting on March 25, 2013 – 3:36 pm

bracket_top8-copy

Since it’s not football season and there’s no Redskins football on TV, let’s assume that everyone’s attention has turned, at least for the next three weeks, to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. Call it crazy but March Madness is a force to be reckoned with at this time of year because of all the pageantry surrounding nail-biting finishes, Cinderella stories and upsets galore.

The bottom line is that the tournament is arguably one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year, other than the Super Bowl, and captivates audiences across the Nation.

Why try to fight it? Plus, Redskins players seem to be having some fun with the tournament so why can’t we?
