2013 Draft Members Have Chance To Start

Posted by Stephen Czarda on April 29, 2013 – 12:35 pm

(AP Photo)

Unlike last year’s draft where the Redskins were determined to move up from their original draft slot of sixth overall to draft one of the biggest college prospects, the team stood pat during the 2013 NFL Draft and let everyone know that they weren’t going anywhere.

They didn’t move and they didn’t drop back; they kept their seven draft picks and added depth and addressed need at the same time.

Standing firm with what we currently have has been a recurring theme this offseason as the Redskins return all but one starter from last year’s squad.

Going into the draft, though, secondary was an area of interest for the 2012 NFC East champs as it seemed like every “expert” was tabbing a corner or safety to come to the Nation’s Capital.

Did they predict three DBs, two of which led the NCAA in interception, would join the team?

Was there anyone that thought they would land Phillip Thomas and Baccari Rambo, both of whom were linked to the N0. 51 overall pick, in the latter half of the draft?

ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano looked into his crystal ball for the NFL future for trio and sees some starters for the upcoming campaign.

Redskins, Ravens Hoop For Charity

Posted by Stephen Czarda on March 25, 2013 – 1:11 pm

On Saturday, the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens tangled for the second time in months. For those of you that don’t recall how the events unraveled between the two teams in their first encounter, just check out this video as a reminder.

On this day, the two franchise that play a mere 30 miles away from each other on Sundays during the season, were showcasing their talents in a different sports arena where the final score meant literally nothing.

Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith was holding his third annual Torrey Smith Foundation Charity Basketball Game and invited some of the NFC East champs to do battle at the rim. He and the rest of hims teammates were hoping to extract revenge for their lost at FedExField and more importantly, to raise money for his foundation.

Find out how the game when here:

Combine Is Key For Redskins Scouts

Posted by Chris Herting on February 19, 2013 – 3:19 pm

Redskins Director of Player Personnel Scott Campbell is entering his 27th NFL season and his 13th with the Washington Redskins. Campbell originally joined the Redskins staff in 2001 as Director of College Scouting and in 2008 he was promoted to his current role as Director of Player Personnel.

As son of Marion Campbell, former head coach for the Atlanta Falcons and the defensive coordinator for the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles (1980), Scott’s NFL background is an extensive one to say the least, serving in numerous roles throughout his tenure in the league.

Fans sometimes look at the NFL season within the microscope of a five month season and yearly April draft. However, for Scott Campbell and the other team scouts, championships are won and/or lost in the time spent off of the gridiron. Read more »

Will You Be My [Belated] Valentine?

Posted by Stephen Czarda on February 15, 2013 – 5:17 pm

Mother Nature graces the DMV with brisk winter breezes during the month of February, causing many to be slightly on the grouchy side at times as they wait for the flowers to bloom and for family beach vacation season to kick into gear.

Today, however, spirits among the masses seems to be a little more cheery than a usual day during the shortest month of the year. There’s been an increase in heart-shaped objects, bouquets of flowers, and people ignoring their beach-bod diets in favor of adding some chocolate to their routines.

It’s almost like there’s a feeling of love in the air.

Well folks that’s because today is Valentine’s Day, the annual day of love!

Redskins Nation has a lot to love during this holiday as we are currently under blue skies, Punxsutawney Phil ( for those of you who don’t know, Phil is the famous groundhog of Groundhog Day) saw his shadow forecasting spring is on its way, and knowing that their favorite football team shocked the league this season claiming the NFC East title may be the sweetest treat of all!

The Redskins themselves have caught the love bug and have been spending their day with loved ones.

Find out what some of the players have been doing after being struck with Cupid’s arrow here:

Griffin III Celebrates Another Special Day!

Posted by Stephen Czarda on February 12, 2013 – 5:39 pm

Robert Griffin III

Today marks a special day for one member of the Washington Redskins.

This individual is relatively new to Redskins Nation, as he has only been part of this historic franchise for less than a year. His impact in his stint so far has been nothing short of amazing.

He is a former Heisman winner, the reigning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, a Pro Bowler, a captain, and the creator of the 2012 sensation known simply as “Griffining”.

The man of course is none other than quarterback Robert Griffin III!

Robert was born on February 12, 1990 in Japan to a military family, but spent the majority of his upbringing in Texas where he attended Baylor University before hearing his name called by Commissioner Roger Goodell as the Redskins had selected him to take the reigns under center.

In case you can’t remember all the birthday boy’s accomplishments in his time at Redskins Park, relive some of the moments here!

‘Which One Of You Guys Are RGIII?’

Posted by Andrew Walker on July 10, 2012 – 11:08 am

I’d imagine one of the cooler parts of becoming a professional football player is being recognized in public and asked for an autograph or photo.

But Redskins’ rookie guard Adam Gettis explained Monday how overzealous fans can sometimes get it wrong in their autograph hunts.
