As the Ravens arrive in New Orleans today for Super Bowl XLVII Redskins’ fullback Darrel Young probably wishes it were his team representing the NFC on Sunday instead of the San Francisco 49ers.
Beside the obvious reason that the Super Bowl is the pinnacle of the National Football League, Young has had success in his football career against Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco some may not be aware of.
Young played his college football as a linebacker at the University of Villanova. Flacco threw one pass in two seasons at the University of Pittsburgh before transferring to the University of Delaware. Both teams are FCS members of the Colonial Athletic Association.
Flacco and Young’s college careers overlapped, giving them two opportunities to faceoff against each other. Both were starters on opposite sides of the ball for both contests. Here’s a look back: Read more »
