Giuliana Rancic Talks Growing Up A Redskins Fan

A brief scuffle during practice today between wide receiver Andre Roberts and cornerback Bashaud Breeland was ultimately a small matter.

Roberts took to Twitter this afternoon affirming his good spirits and strong relationship with Breeland, using his positive energy to look towards Sunday’s matchup against the New York Giants.

Coach Jay Gruden addressed the incident Wednesday.

“You don’t want fights at practice, but guys are a little frustrated and things happen when football players are competing,” he said. “I like the competitive nature of guys competing at practice, one-on-ones. We had some good, competitive team drills today, but that was a rarity. That doesn’t happen very often and we addressed it.”

Jay Gruden Talks About First Months As Head Coach

When Jay Gruden stepped onto the stage at the Redskins Park media room and took a seat with President and general manager Bruce Allen at the press conference introducing him as the new head coach, the then-46-year-old admitted that he had a long few months ahead. He wanted to instill a confidence in the organization–especially the players–that he is the right man to lead Washington back to Super Bowl success.

“We have great expectations here,” Gruden explained. “We expect to win soon. The culture here – there’s a great history here for the Washington Redskins and there’s a lot of pride here. The fans are unbelievable here – I think 40 straight seasons of sellouts. They expect a winner. They want a winner. They don’t expect anything else.

“We just have to instill that faith that we’re going to get them to do that quickly. The history of this organization is something that we can all be proud of and anytime we put on a Redskin jersey, these players have to have a lot of pride and be excited to play. It will be a great atmosphere.”

Six months after his hiring, the roster has been outspoken about their love of Gruden’s coaching style.

CSN Washington’s Chick Hernandez sat down with Gruden to hear how his tenure as head coach has gone so far.

Jon Gruden: ‘How Can I Not Love The Redskins?’

Posted by Stephen Czarda on May 16, 2014 – 11:15 am

Despite being an analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football and hosting his own television show each spring with NFL hopefuls, each telecasted to millions, it would have been understandable if Jon Gruden was nervous when he spoke to those in attendance at the 25th annual Burgundy and Gold Banquet. Joe Gibbs, three-time Super Bowl winner and founder and chairman of Youth For Tomorrow, accepted his Lifetime Achievement award just moments before he took center stage.

Big shoes to fill, right?

But he had no choke-ups. With former colleagues sitting just feet from the podium and his brother Jay, head coach of the Washington Redskins, looking on the former NFL coach was at ease.

And he let everyone know that he’s loves the burgundy and gold.

Redskins “Give Local” At Weekend Blood Drive

Posted by Stephen Czarda on April 28, 2014 – 4:52 pm

Blood is burgundy for a reason.

On Saturday, Washington Redskins players and coaches, in conjunction with Inova Blood Donor Services, partook in a blood drive at Redskins Park.

Part of Inova’s “Give Local, Save Local” campaign, the blood drive drew citizens of the DMV and beyond looking to support those in need to include head coach Jay Gruden.

“Gave some blood Saturday which was exciting,” Gruden said Monday before Brian Orakpo’s fourth-annual Leukemia Golf Classic at Trump National Golf Club. “Got to see some people and help some people. It’s a great opportunity to help people that desperately need it.”

Here’s Gruden shortly before needle’s first poke:

Redskins Players, Coaches Enjoy ‘Draft Day’ Screening

Posted by Andrew Walker on April 3, 2014 – 10:50 am

Kerrigan Draft Day

They laughed. They cried.

OK, they didn’t really cry, but several Redskins players and team personnel Wednesday evening enjoyed a special screening of the movie “Draft Day,” which is due to be released in theaters nationwide April 11.

I won’t be like that guy on Facebook that spoiled the “How I Met Your Mother” finale, so if you’re looking for a full recap of the flick, you’re in the wrong place.

But here’s the gist of the movie — which stars Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary (and even former Redskins player Terry Crews) — according to IMDb.com:
