Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth aren’t just flying by the seats of their pants.
Every insight you hear on NBC Sunday Night Football is the result of lengthy research and observation. A day after NBC broadcasted the Ravens Steelers game in Baltimore, the TV crew visited Redskins Park to watch practice, hold production meetings and prepare for Sunday Night Football.
Watch Cris Collinsworth detail the hospitality he received before Al Michaels belts out part of the team’s fight song. Extra kudos to hockey fan Al for his Hawaiian sign off. Read more »

You’ve been to FedExField before for a Washington Redskins game and have seen just how amazing the atmosphere is come game day.
The outside tailgating experience is top notch, big name rivals come to town each season and, of course, “Hail to the Redskins” being sung by the faithful after every touchdown.
Josh Wilson, although touchdownless in his two seasons with the Redskins, has heard the familiar tune countless times and just like the rest of us has it memorized.
Check out this rendition of the Redskins fight song by the corner courtesy of his Meet the Redskins segment:

Redskin’s fans are the best fans in the NFL. Fact.
We know it’s true. You all know it’s true. And even if they’re afraid to admit it, fans of other teams know that it’s true. The fact is that the Redskins are a global brand and you fans are the driving force behind this historic franchise.
The emergence of QB Robert Griffin III this year only amplified the following. Oddly enough, Griffin III turned Cowboys fans into Redskins fans or at the least made them take notice. His play, and the team’s play, was electrifying so much that you couldn’t help but appreciate his talent. He showed them the light bringing rival fans over from the darkside.
That’s why we felt the need to share with you John and Sarah’s journey to Cape Town, South Africa.

Off the football field, Robert Griffin III has the reputation of a smart cookie, who finished high school and college early while juggling the demands of football. He was also reported to have a fine singing voice, which he used while asking his fiancee to marry him.
In a move that should impress Redskins fans worldwide, Griffin combined the two skills in his interview with Larry Michael on a special draft edition of Redskins Nation.
Nothing like starting off your Redskins career with an abbreviated rendition of “Hail to the Redskins.” Read more »

Redskins quarterback Mark Rypien was the gunslinger under center for the 1991 Redskins–arguably the greatest team ever assembled–but had a reputation for being a man of the people.
Outside of the magical season in Washington, he had a journeyman’s career, and forged his best relationships with the fans. As far as I can tell, he never ‘big-leagued’ anyone during his career or post-playing days, and continues to be a Redskins fan and ardent supporter.
He even whistles the Redskins Fight Song in perfect form. Read more »

For whatever reason, it’s not terribly often that there is legitimate crossover in Washington area sports. Sure, there’s the occasional Redskins player that throws out the first pitch, or the Capitals owner in the stands at a Redskins game, but there isn’t a long-standing relationship.
Washington’s newest sports figure seems likely to change that, however, as newly acquired Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez has gone all in as a Washingtonian.
The Miami, Fla. native–who spent his first four seasons in Oakland, Calif.–is now a Burgundy and Gold-blooded football fan. He announced as much on his introductory interview with “The Sports Reporters,” Steve Czaban and Andy Pollin, on ESPN 980.
