In Dan Snyder’s letter announcing the creation of the Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation, the owner wrote about his commitment to “listening and learning from all voices with a perspective about our Washington Redskins name.”
To accomplish that goal, Snyder and his staff launched a fact-finding mission that led them to 26 Native American reservations across 20 states.
They sought input from 400 Tribal leaders throughout Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.
