‘No Shoes Nation’ marks 20 years of touring for Chesney, who Billboard declares is “the biggest ticket seller in country music and among the elite touring artists in the world,” and comes on the heels of his wildly successful 2012 ‘Brothers of the Sun’ Tour, which blew away more than 1.1 million fans across the country.

“I believe what we’ve created on the road is something special,” Chesney said. “The fans, myself, the band, the crew. But it’s really the fans who have given us a wonderful, unique life. What we’ve all built together is the ‘No Shoes Nation.’ There is no better name for this tour.”

On December 30, 2012, your Redskins welcomed the division rival Cowboys to town in a game for all of the marbles. After all was said and done, the burgundy and gold defeated Dallas 28-18 to claim the NFC East Championship and the team’s first playoff berth since 2007.

Seven days later the Redskins trotted onto their home turf of FedExField to host Seattle in a home Wild Card Playoff game. As the clock struck eight o’clock in the evening, the live another day storybook ending we had all hoped for was replaced with a feeling of despair that remains all too fresh in our minds.

However, the loss was not the only topic of conversation that day and the days thereafter.

Conversation postmortem playoff loss continued to be centered on the less-than-perfect field conditions and whether or not the Redskins, and/or the NFL, would address the issue that so many teams face towards the end of each season.

A few weeks back, CSNWashington.com reported the Redskins may use a 22 day break in the schedule away from home as an opportunity to “re-sod the middle of the field for the 1st time in stadium history…”

During his pre-draft press conference, head coach Mike Shanahan confirmed those reports saying,

“We’ve got a game plan with the drainage of our field, drainage system, that’s going to make it better. Depending how our field looks at midseason, I’m sure will determine what we do, but we’ve got a plan in place…”

Since that chill January afternoon, the NFL has publicly said it intends to increase their policing of playing surfaces beginning in 2013, but Shanahan says the team was aware of the problem well before any NFL involvement and planned to take action regardless, “…anytime you have a field like we had, we’re going to take care of it ourselves.”

Here’s the short-winded version of how a mid-season re-sod is all feasible.

The Redskins have a 22-day break in the action between their Week 9 November 3rd home game and their ESPN Monday Night Football tilt vs. San Francisco slotted for November 25th. Click here for the full schedule.

So if all goes according to plan the team will re-sod in hopes for greener pastures as next year’s season winds down.

As to where the stadium crew will work to re-sod the field coach Shanahan iterates, “…if it’s not great, we’ll re-sod everything.”

On March 9^th the non-dancing seminar, Project Cheerleader, will teach strategies beyond cheer and dance to become a successful Washington Redskins Cheerleader. This comes as no surprise.

The Washington Redskins announced today that tickets to the NFC Wild Card Weekend playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday have sold out.

In the event there are player or visitor team ticket returns, fans are encouraged to check with Ticketmaster for availability.

With as many fans that I saw early this morning rushing to the Redskins Ticket Office at FedExField following Washington’s 28-18 win over the Dallas Cowboys late Sunday night (see above), I knew this announcement was only a matter of time.

For those who were fortunate enough to score tickets, here’s what you need to know about Sunday’s big game:

- Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid traffic and enjoy the 1 p.m. playoff games.

- The parking lots open at 11:30 a.m.

- The Bud Light Party Pavilion and AAA Ultimate Fan Zone open at 12:30 p.m.

- Stadium gates open at 1:30 p.m.

Our focus on Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues with a look at the famous Mammovan.

On Thursday, the George Washington Medical Faculty Associates Mobile Mammography Program — or, for short, the Mammovan — headed to FedExField to help 15 Prince Georges County women receive mammograms at no charge. The screenings, which were coordinated through the CSA in Maryland, lasted from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Mammovan has actually been a staple in the Washington, D.C.-area’s battle against breast cancer since 1996.

Since that time, it has traveled to community health sites and screened more than 35,000 women in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area, and it is recognized for providing state-of-the-art screening (including digital mammography) to underserved populations and private organizations.

To date, all 116 women diagnosed with breast cancer while on the Mammovan have been Stage 0, 1 or 2. Currently, the Mammovan screens between 2,250 and 2,500 women annually.

Much like the Mammovan, the Redskins Women’s Club is spending October focusing on screenings and preventative health measures to tackle breast cancer. Washington Redskins general manager Bruce Allen was hitting the pavement early this morning, greeting tailgaters as they came into the FedExField parking lots for today’s 2012 home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

And wouldn’t you know it? The first person he greeted was a Dallas Cowboys fan!

Anyway, the fans are definitely antsy for this home opener — as you all should be.

There’s already tons of anticipation for the Washington Redskins’ 2012 home opener on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

And although kickoff isn’t until 1 p.m., the Redskins are encouraging all fans to arrive early to Sunday’s game to avoid major traffic jams and delays in the hours and minutes leading up to the matchup.

The lots will be opening at 9 a.m. Sunday, four hours before kickoff. And here’s more good news: I’ll be out there in the tailgating lots as the official “Redskins Blog Taste-Tester.”

So get there early and claim your spot to watch the Redskins open up the home portion of their season on a high note.

It’s not too late to get the opportunity to pay tribute to one of the greatest Redskins of all-time, while also enjoying some quality college football at an NFL facility.

The Virginia 529 College Savings Classic featuring West Virginia and James Madison at FedExField on Saturday, Sept. 15, has been declared “Sam Huff Day” in honor of former Redskin and Mountaineer legend. Kickoff has been set for 4:30 p.m., and you can still buy tickets by clicking here.

‘Sam Huff Day’ will pay tribute to Huff’s lifetime achievements in football, as well as commemorate his years of dedication and commitment to the Redskins and Mountaineers.

Huff will be the Mountaineers’ honorary captain and recognized at the end of the first quarter. He will also be honored pregame, on the video boards and at special events at FedExField throughout the day.

And, as if you needed any more incentive to attend the game and pay tribute to Huff, West Virginia’s athletic department on Tuesday wrote this great profile piece on Huff and the upcoming WVU-JMU game at FedExField.
