Cowboys Vs. Redskins: Experts Pick ‘Em

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on December 21, 2013 – 10:05 am

Holy Gee-whiz Golly Gosh Wow.

I don’t know what happened to Mike Florio and Pro Football Talk. Maybe a body-snatching alien has overtaken blogging duties this week. Florio has been trolling the Redskins all season, but he’s one of a handful of national media members predicting a win for Washington on Sunday against Dallas.

Redskins Vs. Chiefs: Experts Pick ‘Em

Seth Wickersham will not be bullied by his cronies at ESPN.

The features writer won’t back down. He’s the only man courageous enough to pick the Redskins at home against the Chiefs.

Redskins Vs. Giants: Experts Pick ‘Em

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on December 1, 2013 – 4:37 pm

This one could be a tortoise race.

Nobody’s exceptionally fast (or good at football), but somebody has to win. New York has one more win than Washington, but the teams have not met in 2013. They square off twice in the final five weeks of the season. At least one expert thinks the Redskins are better than the Giants.

Over at NFL.com, Elliot Harrison acknowledges the Redskins slump, but thinks the Giants are just a little bit worse.

Redskins-Seahawks: Experts Pick ‘Em

The Redskins have been underdogs and had their backs against the wall for the entire 2012 regular season — so why not in the postseason, as well?

The trend continues today when the Redskins (10-6), NFC East champions and winners of seven straight, do battle against the Seattle Seahawks (11-5) in the NFC Wild Card round playoff game at FedExField.

More than 80 percent of the experts below are going with the road team in today’s game. This is despite the Seahawks’ struggles on the road (with a rookie quarterback) and a defense that hasn’t exactly been the league’s best against the run.

Here’s this week’s version of Experts Pick ‘Em:

Redskins-Cowboys: Experts Pick ‘Em

Last week, about 97 percent of the experts and analysts below thought the Washington Redskins would defeat the Philadelphia Eagles.

They were right.

But tonight, with the NFC East title on the line when the Redskins face the Cowboys at FedExField, the experts feel Washington will have a game on its hands.

This should be a good one.

Redskins-Eagles: Experts Pick ‘Em

Let’s just face the facts: the Redskins are a team on the up and the Eagles have been going the other way this season.

Just a couple of years ago, it was the Eagles that were the perennial favorites of the NFC East. Now, at 4-10, they’re not.

Since their Bye Week this season, the Redskins (8-6) have soared up into the top spot in the NFC East and show no signs of slowing.

Accordingly, the experts and analysts below think the Redskins should take care of business today vs. the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field — in fact, 97 percent of them do.

Redskins-Browns: Experts Pick ‘Em

The Washington Redskins head into today’s game vs. the Cleveland Browns the winners of four straight games. But having the momentum going your way doesn’t always guarantee a win in the NFL, especially on the road.

The Redskins will be giving quarterback Kirk Cousins his first-career start today, as Robert Griffin III nurses a sprained LCL in his right knee. The experts and analysts below probably took the possibility of Cousins starting into consideration when making their weekly picks.

Despite this fact, the Redskins are still favored today.

Redskins-Ravens: Experts Pick ‘Em

Last week, just more than 25 percent of the NFL experts and analysts below picked the Redskins to defeat the New York Giants on Monday Night Football at FedExField.

So, in other words, a little less than 75 percent of those experts and analysts were wrong. The Redskins, of course, won 17-16 to get within a game of the NFC East-leading Giants.

The story is a little different today, as the Redskins (6-6) play host to the AFC North-leading Ravens (9-3) at FedExField. Even though the Ravens have been enjoying a better season overall to this point, you can see below which team the analysts are going with today.

Redskins-Giants: Experts Pick ‘Em

In Week 7 — the last time the Redskins and the Giants played one another — just less than nine percent of the NFL experts and analysts below picked the Redskins to pull off the upset.

And the Redskins almost won that game at MetLife Stadium, taking a late lead with about a minute left before the Giants won on a last-second touchdown throw.

But with the Redskins (5-6) now riding a two-game winning streak heading into tonight’s Monday Night Football rematch with the Giants (7-4), just a few more think Washington will dispose of the defending Super Bowl champions at FedExField.

Last week, more than 85 percent of the NFL experts and analysts below picked the Redskins to be victorious over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Boy, were they ever right. The Redskins thrashed the Eagles 31-6, dominating in all aspects of the game.

Today’s Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, however, paints a different picture.
