Robinson Claims ‘NFL AM’ Dancing Award

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 28, 2012 – 12:24 pm

Washington Redskins wide receiver Aldrick Robinson has earned a few awards in his football career — including being named first-team All-Conference USA while at SMU — but he has a new title to add to his accolades: award-winning dancer.

Robinson this morning was named the winner of the weekly “Dancing With The Starters” contest by the NFL Network’s “NFL AM” crew. Robinson made his moves (see below) after his 68-yard touchdown last Thursday in the Redskins’ 38-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

‘NFL AM’ tweeted about the award this morning:

Robinson, who is in his second year with the Redskins, has seen a recent surge in production. He caught a 49-yard touchdown in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles — a 31-6 Washington victory — before catching his 68-yarder last Thursday against Dallas.

For the season, Robinson has 11 catches for 237 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a touchdown grab Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.

Here’s Robinson’s award-winning dance from Thursday’s game, presented over and over for your viewing pleasure:

Video: Chris Baker Digs That Brass Sound

Washington Redskins defensive lineman Chris “Swaggy” Baker doesn’t shy away from showing off his dance moves, at anytime really.

But when a live band was playing a version of Gary Glitter’s song “Rock And Roll” (also known as the “Hey!” song) prior to the Redskins’ game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, I’m sure Baker just couldn’t resist.

In fact, we got video evidence:

Niles Paul Honored With Dance, Video

Posted by Andrew Walker on September 6, 2012 – 4:09 pm

I have a feeling that “doing the Niles Paul” is going to be the next big dance craze.

OK, actually, I try to keep as far away from dance floor as possible, but thanks to YouTube user MyRyTunes and the “Niles Mafia,” we have some new steps to learn.

MyRyTunes has what I’m guessing are self-produced videos with self-produced songs and self-produced dances. Here’s his tribute to Paul, the Redskins’ second-year tight end:

Essay Contest Winner Teaches London Fletcher The Thriller Dance

Posted by Matt Terl on June 7, 2010 – 4:35 pm

When Redskins linebacker London Fletcher agreed to visit the school of the winner of the Hip, Happy, and Healthy Essay Contest — sponsored by the Washington Post and benefiting the Children’s Inn at NIH — he probably expected to answer a few questions, sign a few autographs, slap a few hands, say a few words. But eventual winner Isabelle Kramer had other ideas.

Kramer, a seventh-grader at Washington Episcopal School in Bethesda, wrote her essay on the dangers of anorexia among her peers. And by peers, Kramer meant “the people she’s been dancing with for half her life.” Kramer has been a ballet dancer for eight years and is currently with the Washington School of Ballet, so when she found out that the she had won and that Fletcher would be visiting WES, she had one idea in mind:

“I thought it would be funny to put him in ballet shoes,” she told me.

Ultimately, that plan didn’t come to fruition, but Kramer had a backup plan. “The WES middle school girls,” she said, “we had a free day one day and decided to do Thriller together. We learned it from one of our teachers, and we decided that it would be good today so we could include more of the students.”

The WES middle school girls, she said, had learned the dance in “ten or twenty minutes, at most,” which seemed to set the bar pretty high for Fletcher.

He was given about two minutes of onstage practice, which led up to this performance:
