TMNT Trailers And The Redskins

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on March 28, 2014 – 4:30 pm

secret

The internet loves ’90s offspring.

A glut of blogs have cashed in with kitschy retrospectives on the toys, snacks and school supplies from the golden age of Saturday morning cartoon programming.

Michael Bay gets it. The director, producer and inspiration for “Team America: World Police” already turned the Transformers from benevolent toons into GGI renditions of undulating Dolby sounds. Now he’s coming for your turtles.

Paramount and Nickelodeon released the first trailer for the latest addition to the TMNT canon, which fell right in the wheelhouse of a couple of twenty-something Redskins. Read more »

Although 40-yard dashes, broad jumps and bench press reps don’t really give us an idea of a prospect’s viability as a football player, the physical tests can give a glimpse at a man’s raw athletic potential and ability to thrive in a competitive atmosphere. Over the course of the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine, the Redskins blog will take a look back at how Washington’s past three draft classes fared in Indianapolis.

Prospect: DL Ryan Kerrigan Read more »

You and your glorious man scuff made Redskins Nation have Chris Bliss Mr. Neild.

In honor of the bearded West Virginia alum’s 26th birthday, here’s an article posted in 2011 shortly after nose tackle Chris Neild made some serious noise with 1.5 sacks on only eight snaps against the New York Giants.

Here’s to also hoping Eli Manning has some serious déjà vu tonight and some whiskers hang low in his face as Neild stands over him.

A Very Special Walkthrough

Posted by Evan Redmon on July 31, 2013 – 12:03 pm

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The focus shifted to special teams at this morning’s walkthrough, at least on field No. 1.

Practice started out with a series of kickoff drills, and the coaches presented the players with a variety of scenarios. First came the onside kick drill, followed by medium or “squib kick” coverage, and then the coaches got involved in the blocking schemes on full kickoffs. Read more »

Defense Line Braces For Newest NT

Posted by Stephen Czarda on June 27, 2013 – 12:56 pm

Ron Brace

(AP Image)

With some time to breath before the start of training camp next month, we have the opportunity to go back and highlight some of the “under-the-radar” moves the team did since January—and trust me there have been a lot of moves if you think about it.

In February, the Redskins signed nose tackle Ron Brace. Brace, drafted in the second round (40th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft, had spent his entire four-year career with the New England Patriots.

The 6-3, 330 pound Brace (not sure how anyone could miss that) will join fellow nose tackles Barry Cofield ,Chris Neild, and Chris Baker to form a deadly quartette of stoppers  in the center of the Redskins defensive line.

While Brace may not be a household name in our Nation’s Capital (yet), he is a recurring nightmare for at least once running back—Denver’s Lance Ball.

Check out this video clip of Brace forcing the pigskin out of Ball’s hands in the second quarter of a 2011 regular season matchup between the AFC foes.

Niles Paul Honored With Dance, Video

Posted by Andrew Walker on September 6, 2012 – 4:09 pm

I have a feeling that “doing the Niles Paul” is going to be the next big dance craze.

OK, actually, I try to keep as far away from dance floor as possible, but thanks to YouTube user MyRyTunes and the “Niles Mafia,” we have some new steps to learn.

MyRyTunes has what I’m guessing are self-produced videos with self-produced songs and self-produced dances. Here’s his tribute to Paul, the Redskins’ second-year tight end:
