Posted by Brian Tinsman on March 29, 2012 – 10:14 am

Throughout the month of March, the Redskins Cheerleaders have offered classes twice a week at FedExField, to learn their routines and prepare for the upcoming auditions.  If you were thinking of getting in on that, tonight is your last opportunity to do so.

There are two classes being offered tonight, at 7 and 8:30 p.m., and the cost is $25 per session.  If you’ve been to another session so far this spring, then come tonight to learn a new routine.  Who wouldn’t want to join one of the top-10 hottest cheerleading squads in professional sports?

Speaking of which, here’s some video footage from the prep classes so far.  Enjoy: Read more »

Radio DJ’s Not Ready To Be Cheerleaders

Over the last few weeks, the Redskins Cheerleaders have been making the rounds to local radio stations in anticipation of their upcoming classes and auditions for the 2012 season.

At the end of last week, they visited 95.5 WPGC and partied with DJ Flexx, who was wearing his favorite Redskins jersey, No. 21 Sean Taylor.  He calls himself in the video, “The No. 1 Redskins fan, period.”

So what would make the best experience for the No. 1 fan?  How about learning some basic Cheerleader moves from Mila and Monique, two of the most recognizable First Ladies of Football.  Check out the video here.

DJ Flexx did pretty well for himself, and maybe by September, he’ll be ready to go.

Another pair of ladies–Ashley A. and Maigan–also visited Boxer and Intern Tim at 98.7 WMZQ, and got both men to show their best moves.  Let’s just say those moves were something short of Jagger’s: Read more »

Redskins Cheerleaders Hit The Airwaves

Washington Redskins Cheerleaders Susan and Tena made the rounds at DC’s Radio One studios yesterday afternoon to promote the upcoming Cheerleader classes and tryouts.

The pair appeared on Magic 102.3, 93.9 WKYS, and Praise 104.1, and talked a little bit about what it’s like to be a part of the NFL experience.  For those interested in potentially joining the Redskins Cheerleaders next season, classes run every Tuesday and Thursday from Feb. 28 through March 29.

For more information on the auditions, consult the Redskins Cheerleaders page on Redskins.com.

Radio is supposed to be a medium where appearance doesn’t matter, but that rule doesn’t really apply to the First Ladies of Washington Football.  Susan and Tena were dressed in their winter finest, with white jackets, shorts and boots.

Trust me, their classy apparel really sounded good on air.

Here is Susan talking to Redskins.com about her experience as a rookie Redskins Cheerleader in 2011: Read more »

The Redskins Cheerleader Who Thought She Wasn’t

Posted by Matt Terl on April 4, 2011 – 4:08 pm

When I trailed Marisa for last year’s Redskins cheerleader final auditions, I figured the post was going to go one of two ways — and midway through the auditions, I realized that one of those two ways represented a huge problem for me. Either she was going to make the squad and it was going to be a happy piece, which I could handle, or she was going to miss the cut and I was going to turn into an emotion vulture feeding on her misery and tears. And that I wasn’t so sure I could do.

Marisa’s story turned out to be a happy one, and it was correspondingly easy to write, but my realization left me in a bit of a qundary this year: if I wrote about a rookie making the team, I’d have a tough time not rehashing last year’s stuff. But writing about someone missing the team would’ve sent me right back to that bottom-feeding vampire stuff that I was so pleased to avoid.

You can imagine how excited I was to find out — however accidentally — that there was a third option.

This picture was taken shortly after the new squad was announced; the black and pink number 1 jerseys are given to the ladies who make the cut. The person to pay attention to in this picture is the blonde to the right, not the brunette who’s actually looking at the camera. If you look closely, you’ll notice that most people wearing the jerseys are also wearing stockings with cheerleading briefs, but Megan — the blonde — has made the much less cheer-friendly choice of jeans.

That’s because Megan wasn’t with the rest of her new squadmates when they were announced. Here’s how that looked from my vantage point off stage right, with a clear view of the door through which the newly-announced were entering: Read more »
