Welcome Back Linebacker Bryan Kehl

The Redskins today welcomed back a familiar face, as they signed linebacker Bryan Kehl to their 53-man roster.
Kehl, 28, is in his sixth year in the league, and played in three games with the Kansas City Chiefs this season. He played the previous two regular seasons with the St. Louis Rams after beginning his career with the New York Giants.
In a corresponding move, the Redskins waived outside linebacker Mario Addison from their active roster. Addison, who signed with the team Oct. 9, plauyed in five games with Washington.
Kehl — who is wearing his familiar No. 53 with Washington — originally signed with the Redskins in April and had a strong showing in training camp and the preseason before he was released amidst a crowded group of linebackers during final cuts.
Kehl’s best preseason game in burgundy and gold was his final one, in the Redskins’ 30-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kehl’s Interception: 3rd Time’s The Charm
Posted by on August 30, 2012 – 10:58 amThe first two times this preseason that the opposing quarterback gift-wrapped an interception for Bryan Kehl, the ball slapped off the Redskins linebacker’s hands and fell to the turf.
Turns out the third time was the charm.
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ end zone just six yards away Wednesday night, Kehl made an athletic play to reach low and pick off a Brett Ratliff pass — this time hanging onto the ball — as he took the ball 43 yards to the Washington 49-yard line.
Kehl was all smiles when asked about the play after the game.

Bryan Kehl, Father, Finally Reunite
Posted by on August 22, 2012 – 3:46 pmKudos to The Free Lance-Star’s Zac Boyer for writing this piece.
Up until about three years ago, Redskins linebacker Bryan Kehl had never met his biological father.
Not that Kehl ever really suffered without a father figured in his life — he had been adopted as an infant by Gary and Nancy Kehl.
But curiosity got the best of Bryan Kehl shortly before Thanksgiving in 2009, when he was playing for the New York Giants. He went online with only a known fact or two about his real father and searched.

Somebody Give This Man A Cigar

A round of congrats are in order for Washington Redskins’ linebacker Bryan Kehl and his wife, Jessica.
The two are now proud parents of their first-born child — a girl, Jayda, who came into this world at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and 19.5 inches.
The special delivery came late this week after Jessica was in labor for — get this — 22 hours.

The Redskins made a savvy move with the addition of Bryan Kehl this morning, further stocking the team’s linebacker reserves and bolstering special teams. Kehl was a 2008 draftee of the Giants, and has spent the last three seasons in St. Louis.
Kehl is an outside linebacker in the 4-3, and will likely shift to the inside slot in the 3-4. As a senior at BYU, he put up some of the fastest times for linebackers (4.55), and has a history of chasing down faster ball-carriers from behind. He was also named BYU’s defensive MVP and earned the Strength & Conditioning Award as a senior in 2007, showing a willingness to outwork his teammates. Read more »
