Romanowski: Fletcher Deserves Record
Posted by on December 19, 2012 – 4:52 pmFor 16 seasons, Bill Romanowski built a reputation as one of the nastiest, most consistent linebackers in the National Football League.
Romanowski built a streak of 243 consecutive games played from 1994 through 2003 as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders — a league record for linebackers.
For 15 seasons, London Fletcher has also built a reputation as one of the most well-respected and consistent linebackers in the NFL.
Heading into Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Fletcher has built his own streak of 238 consecutive games as a member of the St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills and the Redskins.
If Fletcher can play five more games, he’ll tie Romanowski’s record; six and he breaks it. And, because of the way Fletcher carries himself on the field, Romanowski is OK with that.
