A Trip Home For Indiana’s Native Son
Posted by on August 18, 2011 – 7:08 pmWhen Bloomington, Ind. native Ben Chappell flew out to Washington D.C. three weeks ago, he knew that one way or another, he was coming back to Indiana when training camp ended.
Fortunately for him, he’s returning home on the Redskins team chartered flight, ready to take on the Indianapolis Colts.
“I get to see my mom and dad, and it’ll be fun,” he said. ”I’m really excited.”
But don’t expect much fanfare or his own section of adoring fans. Even though he was a Hoosier hero and grew up only 45 minutes away, he doesn’t expect many people to show up for him.
“I think some people are gonna come out and watch,” he said, “but being a rookie free agent, I’m not buying anyone any tickets.” Read more »

Morning Observations
Posted by on July 30, 2011 – 9:52 amToday marks the final day for the Redskins during which pads are prohibited. The team started out with mostly light activities, positional drills, stretching, etc.
Quarterbacks John Beck and Ben Chappell practiced scrambling drills while throwing into the nets. The nets are rigged with a bag that “catches” the balls if they’re fairly accurate. Beck displayed good speed and agility, and put a lot of zip on his accurate passes.
