Hail! Foresees End To The ‘Landover Leap’
Posted by on December 16, 2011 – 10:13 amLast Sunday, touchdown catches by Jabar Gaffney and David Anderson produced high-flying leaps into the crowd, creating the Redskins very own “Landover Leap.”
But as Ben Ceccarelli points out in this week’s edition of the Hail! comic, this is probably a celebratory move reserved for the fleet-footed receivers on offense:

Hail! And Atmospheric Miscommunication
Posted by on December 9, 2011 – 11:16 amI’m no meteorologist (I just play one on gameday), but since the beginning of the season it has been gorgeous on most Tuesday days off, and it has rained Redskins and Cowboys on almost every Wednesday.
As a fan of fair weather (not a fair-weather fan), it would be comically predictable if it weren’t so depressingly predictable.
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, Ashburn, Va. was hit by 3.1 inches of rain, which is approximately 31-times the historical average for that date. As a result, the Redskins were forced to practice off-site, which was expressed to players and coaches upon their arrival, early that morning.
In this week’s edition of Ben Ceccareli’s Hail! comic, he ponders the possibility of players hearing the news wrong: Read more »

Hail! Revisits The Helu Hurdle
Posted by on December 2, 2011 – 9:53 amIf the Redskins were looking for a spark in the running game, then just call Roy Helu “flint and steel.”
The rookie back had a career-high 30 touches for 162 yards and touchdown. None of his touches were more important than his third-and-three play where he he caught the pitch, hurdled, bulldozed and sprinted 28 yards to paydirt, starting the improbable fourth-quarter comeback.
In this week’s edition of Ben Ceccarelli’s Hail! comic, we find out how Helu was able to levitate over his would-be tacklers:

Hail! Interviews Landry’s Achilles Tendon
Posted by on November 25, 2011 – 11:03 amRedskins safety LaRon Landry’s Achilles tendon has been a cause for concern in Redskins Nation, as the one-man wrecking crew has been sidelined in three games this season.
Last week, Landry said all of the right things: he’s ready, he feels good, but whether or not he plays is up to coach [this week, he has been full participation in both practices]. And of course:

According to this week’s edition of Ben Ceccarelli’s Hail! comic, his Achilles tendon feels pretty much the same way:

Hail! Finds The Solution To ‘Turfgate 2.0′
Posted by on November 18, 2011 – 10:43 amYesterday, we looked back at the synthetic drama that came out of game one against the Cowboys this season. Now that Cowboys center Phil Costa and Redskins defensive end Stephen Bowen have solved their barking differences, “Barkgate” is in the past.
In this week’s Hail! comic, Ben Ceccarelli figures out how to eliminate “Turfgate” for Sunday’s game as well:

Hail! And The Running Back Rotation
Posted by on November 11, 2011 – 10:48 amWhen it comes to game planning, head coach Mike Shanahan tells you up front that he won’t tell you, he tells you nothing, and then he reminds you that he didn’t tell you anything.
I’d hate to play him in cards.
But what if it wasn’t a complicated web of secrecy? What if it was just a game of chance? Ben Ceccarelli explores that possibility in this week’s edition of the Hail! comic.
For the record, I’d love to see Lorenzo Alexander at running back:

Hail! Celebrates ‘Hank Time’
Posted by on November 4, 2011 – 8:26 amNow that Redskins rookie receiver Leonard Hankerson has caught his first NFL pass, the monkey is off his back, and “Hank Time” has arrived in Washington.
It’s kind of like Daylight Savings, but exciting for more than one weekend a year.
This week, Ben Ceccarelli’s Hail! comic captures Hankerson’s enthusiasm after last week’s performance. It’s Hank Time!

Hail! Finds Some Farmyard Amusement
Posted by on October 28, 2011 – 1:37 pmCut the whole team? Forfeit the rest of the games? Hire replacement players? Move the team to L.A.?
These were all suggestions made following last week’s loss, and this week’s edition of Ben Ceccarelli’s Hail! comic reminds us all to take a step back…deep breath…and remember that it’s only Week 8:

Hail! Prepares For The John Beck Era
Posted by on October 21, 2011 – 9:47 amWith all of the intense media coverage of the Redskins quarterback change, it’s time for a light-hearted perspective.
John Beck takes the field on Sunday for the first time in regular season action since his rookie season in 2007. For the football heads and devout followers of the Redskins, he’s a familiar entity. But when No. 12 takes the field on Sunday, it will be a new experience for many.
And as this week’s edition of Ben Ceccarelli’s Hail! comic illustrates, he may need some introductions:
