It’s not exactly smooth as a baby’s bottom, but Logan Paulsen’s face is bare once again.
The Redskins tight end is known by many for his thick beard and long brown hair, both of which are often seen protruding from his helmet and chin strap.
But Paulsen this week decided to trim his entire beard off.
The Redskins Blog has learned the grooming decision was probably made much to the delight of Paulsen’s wife, Kelly.
The decision to cut off the beard was a far cry from a scenario Paulsen faced a couple years ago, when he decided to grow out his hair and beard until UCLA college teammate Nick Ekbatani — who suffered a leg amputation in a motorcycle crash — could walk again.

The Washington Redskins announced Tuesday afternoon the signing of outside linebacker Mario Addison, who takes the place of waived outside linebacker Markus White.
Addison (6-3, 257) was originally signed as a college free agent by the Chicago Bears on July 26, 2011. He was waived by Chicago on Nov. 21, 2011, before being claimed off waivers a day later by the Indianapolis Colts.
He appeared in three games with the Bears and three games with the Colts in 2011, finishing with six tackles (two solo). Addison appeared in the Colts’ first three games of the 2012 season and had two tackles.
Addison — a Troy product — is also the newest addition to the Redskins Beard Bunch.
For those of you who are unaware, the Redskins Beard Bunch is an elite group of Redskins players and staff members who sport distinguishing beards, and includes the following men:

It’s been a while since we’ve updated the facial hair growth on rookie nose tackle Chris Neild, and at last look, he was planning to keep it for training camp. At that point, Neild wasn’t sure if he would be around longer, so no need to make hasty predictions.
However, now that he’s a member of the 53-man squad, there’s no need to get rid of it.
“I dunno what the plan is,” he said. “I’ve been shampooing it.”
In August, Neild was living out of the team hotel and was primarily using low-grade hotel shampoo. Since then, he’s upgraded to snagging whatever shampoo he can find in the team locker room. Read more »

If Chris Neild were a wizard (more Gandalf than Dumbledore), his magical powers would be stuffing the opposition’s running game and growing facial hair. In that order.
Neild came to the Redskins via the second-to-last overall pick in the draft, but this man is no Mr. Irrelevant. Despite the additions of Barry Cofield and Stephen Bowen, Neild can play his way onto the team in a reserve role.
And he’s going to do it all with his signature beard. A former version of his beard is pictured below, via twitter:
