All-NFC East Team Is Released; RG3 MVP

A season-best nine Washington Redskins players today were named to ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano’s final All-NFC East Team. Additionally, Graziano named rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III the NFC East’s Most Valuable Player.

The Redskins’ nine selections tied the Dallas Cowboys for the most 2012 All-NFC East team selections. Following the division leaders were the New York Giants (six selections) and the Philadelphia Eagles (three).

Like it was in the NFL’s Pro Bowl voting, Washington (9-6) was well-represented in all three aspects — offense, defense and special teams — in the 2012 All-NFC East Team. The Redskins had five selections on offense, three on defense and one on special teams.

Here’s the entire list of Redskins representatives on the final All-NFC East Team:

Slight Change For All-NFC East Redskins

The Washington Redskins are the hottest team in the NFC, so let’s state the obvious: many of their players are performing at very high levels.

This is apparent in this week’s “All-NFC East Team” compiled by ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano, as the Redskins have a season-high-tying eight representatives on the list — which is based on an entire season’s body of work and is not a week-by-week evaluation.

Washington (8-6) had eight All-NFC East players last week, too; though there is a slight change from last week’s list to this week’s.

Here’s this week’s Redskins representatives, with a few comments below:

Two ‘Skins Added To All-NFC East Team

Posted by Andrew Walker on December 13, 2012 – 9:45 am

Chris Chester

A season-high-tying eight Washington Redskins players appear on this week’s version of ESPN.com Dan Graziano’s All-NFC East Team.

And, judging by Graziano’s picks, the Redskins’ offensive front is doing pretty well for itself.

Additions to this week’s list from last week’s All-NFC East Team — which is based on an entire season’s body of work and is not a week-by-week evaluation — include right guard Chris Chester and punter Sav Rocca.

Here’s the entire list of Redskins representatives:

New Redskins On All-NFC East Team

Two of the more important pieces of the Redskins’ staunch run defense are getting some due recognition.

Nose tackle Barry Cofield and middle linebacker Perry Riley this week grace ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano’s weekly “All-NFC East Team,” which is based on an entire season’s body of work and is not a week-by-week evaluation.

Cofield (pictured above and looking hyped up about his All-NFC East Team selection) and Riley are the plug of a Redskins’ rush defense that ranks fourth in the NFL by allowing just 91.5 yards per game.

They’re included this week with a couple other Redskins All-NFC East Team mainstays, and were evidently almost joined by a couple other teammates:

Familiar Faces On All-NFC East Team

The Redskins mainstays on ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano’s weekly All-NFC East Team have, well, stayed.

The team has five representatives on this week’s list, just as it did last week.

Again, though, I’ll contend it should have at least six. More on that later — first, this week’s Redskins flavor on Graziano’s All-NFC East Team:

Your Weekly All-NFC East Team Update

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 15, 2012 – 10:05 am

(AP photo)

The Washington Redskins last week were the only NFC East team not in action, so it makes sense that they lost a couple of members from ESPN.com NFC East Blogger Dan Graziano’s weekly All-NFC East Team.

This week, the Redskins have five representatives on the list, representing a season-low total for Washington (3-6), which plays host to the Philadelphia Eagles (3-6) Sunday afternoon at FedExField.

Here’s this week’s Redskins players on Graziano’s All-NFC East Team (which is based on an entire season’s body of work and is not a week-by-week evaluation), followed by some commentary:

‘All-NFC East Midseason Team’ Released

Posted by Andrew Walker on November 7, 2012 – 11:23 am

(AP photo)

One week after a season-best eight Redskins appeared on ESPN.com NFC East Blogger Dan Graziano’s All-NFC East Team, the site has released its ‘All-NFC East Midseason Team.’

It’s essentially just the updated version of its weekly All-NFC East Team, considering Graziano selects his picks based on an entire season’s body of work — and not a week-by-week evaluation.

Anyway, we learned today on Graziano’s All-NFC East Midseason Team that six Redskins made the cut.

Here’s the Redskins representatives:

Six ‘Skins Remain On All-NFC East Team

Posted by Andrew Walker on October 25, 2012 – 5:26 pm

One of the unsung heroes of the Washington Redskins’ season to this point has been center Will Montgomery.

Left tackle Trent Williams has gotten some attention this year — and rightfully so — for doing a fantastic job of protecting rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III’s blind side, but Montgomery and his relationship with Griffin III has been just as vital to the team’s success on offense.

ESPN NFC East blogger Dan Graziano has made sure to notice Montgomery’s efforts, however, as the six-year veteran from Virginia Tech has been a mainstay on Graziano’s weekly All-NFC East Team, which is not a week-by-week evaluation, but a reflection of an entire season’s body of work.

Montgomery is one of six Redskins to make the list this week, as cornerback Josh Wilson is the only Washington player who made the cut last week who was not selected this time around.

Here’s a look at this week’s All-NFC East Team, according to Graziano:

More Flip Flops On All-NFC East Team

Posted by Andrew Walker on October 17, 2012 – 11:10 am

(AP photo)

You’ve got to feel for ESPN NFC East blogger Dan Graziano, who is tasked each week with putting together his All-NFC East Team.

Graziano does a great job covering the NFC East, which means he has to be realistic when looking at each position and trying to figure out which players deserve the weekly nod. One position that has seen a two-man rotation has been at quarterback, where Redskins rookie Robert Griffin III and the New York Giants’ Eli Manning have shared top NFC East quarterback honors the entire season.

Last week, it was Manning who was considered the top quarterback in the NFC East. This week, it’s Griffin III again, after his terrific all-around performance in the Redskins’ 38-26 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Graziano also made a couple changes in regards to other Redskins players on or off his list this week. First, the list itself, and then some commentary:

Six Redskins Make All-NFC East Team

Posted by Andrew Walker on October 10, 2012 – 10:48 am

The Washington Redskins have one notable omission from ESPN.com NFC East blogger Dan Graziano’s weekly All-NFC East Team.

Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, who was among seven Redskins included on last week’s list — which is not a week-by-week evaluation, but a reflection of an entire season’s body of work — was replaced this week by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

It’s the second time this exact same switch has happened this season.

The Redskins, of course, are coming off last Sunday’s 24-17, roller-coaster loss to the undefeated Atlanta Falcons at FedExField. Though the Redskins (2-3) would certainly like to have that one back, Graziano’s All-NFC East Team this week is an indication that several individual Redskins are playing at very high levels so far this season.

Here’s all the Redskins on this week’s All-NFC East Team, according to Graziano: Read more »
