Adam Carriker, Aldrick Robinson Call Florida State Over Auburn For BCS Title

When No. 2 Auburn went up, 21-3, on  No. 1 Florida State in the first half of the Vizio BCS National Championship Monday night, defensive end Adam Carriker looked like a man who should stick to pro wrestling analysis.

With 00:13 left on the clock in Pasadena, Calif., Carriker looked like Nostradamus.

FSU Heisman Winner Jameis Winston completed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin to cap off the two-minute drill and win the game. Roberto Aguayo’s extra point made the final score 34-31.

Before the game, Carriker predicted a score just one point shy of what transpired.

Adam Carriker Has An Instagram Account

Posted by Gabe Hiatt on November 26, 2013 – 1:00 pm

Adam Carriker is no blushing violet. He’s a 6-foot-6 behemoth who likes to lecture at length about big men in small tights and may or may not be responsible for the death of Apollo Creed.

Last week, the defensive lineman gave his voice yet another platform, introducing himself to the world of Instagram.

Redskins Talk Michigan State-Nebraska

Posted by Stephen Czarda on November 16, 2013 – 12:00 pm

The Legends Division of the Big 10 is on the line and for six Redskins it’s personal.

While they may have to check score updates on their phones during the team’s flight to the City of Brotherly Love, there will be no love lost for about 3 hours when Nebraska and Michigan State duke it out this afternoon.

With Kirk Cousins and Trenton Robinson proudly defending the honor of Michigan State and Roy Helu Jr., Will Compton, Niles Paul and Adam Carriker pulling out their old Cornhusker hats, expect some friendly banter over alma mater supremacy.

Adam Carriker: ‘It’s Been A Brutal Year’

Posted by Stephen Czarda on August 26, 2013 – 2:15 pm

On Thursday, the Washington Redskins will travel approximately 925 miles south to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the final preseason game. Normally, the starters only play a handful of snaps at most during the last preseason game before turning over the reins to roster hopefuls eager to make one last pitch at why they are deserving of a spot on the final 53-man roster.

One position that may not get the most recognition right off the bat but should is defensive end. While its unclear if head coach Mike Shanahan will play Jarvis Jenkins, Thursday marks the last time he’ll suit up in game day attire until Week 6’s Sunday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys, as he’ll be serving a four-game suspension (this year’s  Bye Week is Week 5) over the first month of the season.

In a world with no problems, veteran Adam Carriker would be the next man up. Unfortunately, Carriker is on the preseason PUP list and his return date from a nagging knee injury is murky. On Monday, though, the six-year veteran spoke to ESPN 980 about his recovery and determination to rejoin his team’s on the quest for Lombardi’s Trophy.

Well Kedric Golston, You’re Up Once Again

Behind all of the excitement of the first training camp in Richmond, was the opening week’s news that defensive lineman Adam Carriker will start the season on the PUP list and Jarvis Jenkins will miss the first quarter of the season due to suspension.

Devastating blows to say the least on a defense that is already returning Brian Orakpo, Brandon Meriweather and even Chase Minnifield from season-ending injuries in 2012.

Jenkins, who started the 14 games last season after replacing Carriker, was widely speculated by Redskins fans and NFL pundits alike to have a breakout campaign. While he can still certainly wreak havoc upon his return Week 6 against the Cowboys (Week 5 is a bye), he’ll be sidelined to start.

After the news broke that Jenkins would indeed be sitting the first four games of the season, Redskins.com posted a poll asking fans which player will start at left defensive end in his absence between Kedric Golston, Chris Baker and Phillip Merling.

Here are the results:

Adam Carriker’s Tremendous Tweet Streak

Adam Carriker isn’t one for change—at least when it comes to his passwords.

The defensive end, just like the rest of us, has been bugged countless times by those pesky popup windows asking to change your protective lock with an assortment of letters, numbers, symbols and whatever else can fit into the “equation”.

Redskins Social Media Weekly Spotlight

Posted by Jared Ross on July 1, 2013 – 3:00 pm

social_spotlight_banner1-111

As we wait for football to start back up, in what I like to call the offseason’s halftime, or the time between Organized Team Activities and training camp, the players are enjoying their time away from the football field.

Thankfully, with calendar’s flipping over to the month of July, we can gladly say that football is back this month!

Last week’s installment of our Social Media Spotlight series covered Josh Morgan’s fluffy new workout partner, a young Chris Baker, another chapter in the life of Mr. Outdoorsman (Reed Doughty) and more. If you did not get a chance to read last week’s Social Media Spotlight, check it out here.

In this week’s edition we follow players through different continents, their quests for treasure and more.

Today, we will discuss defensive lineman Adam Carriker’s treasure-seeking dog, offensive lineman Nick Sundberg’s travels through Europe, wide receiver Aldrick Robinson’s dedication to his community, offensive lineman Chris Chester’s thoughts on the offseason and offensive lineman Josh LeRibus’ trip to a Goo Goo Dolls concert.

Jarvis Jenkins’ Possible ‘Leap’ In 2013

With the clock striking midnight earlier this morning, it officially means that football is back this month!

In 24 days the Washington Redskins will relocate to the heart of Virginia’s Capital for the first practice of training camp.

While all eyes will be on the possible return to the gridiron of one Robert Griffin III, NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling will be keeping a close watch on a man who started 14 games last year but is rarely thrown into “must watch TV” discussions—defensive end Jarvis Jenkins.

Jenkins is one of his top-40 players he sees “Making The Leap” in 2013.

Candidates For First Deacon Jones Award

On June 3rd the National Football League lost one of the greatest players to ever step foot on the gridiron, defensive end David “Deacon” Jones.

Jones, who finished his illustrious career with the Washington Redskins, is best known for terrorizing opposing quarterbacks and coining the term “sack” during his 14-year career.

Long before 2009 Hall of Fame inductee and former Redskin Bruce Smith notched his record breaking 199th career sack against the New York Giants in 2003, Jones was literally changing the game and making sure that defensive players got their name in the papers as well.

To honor Jones’ career of being a quarterback’s worst nightmare, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced that the league will honor each season’s sack king with the Deacon Jones Award at the annual NFL Honors awards extravaganza.

Could a current Redskin bring home the inaugural award?

For you video game diehards out there, I am sure you have been keeping an eye on the festivities at the E3 convention in Los Angeles.

Behind all of the hoopla of several new consoles being highlighted before shipping off to your local malls by the conclusion of the calendar year is another glimpse at what the 25th edition of Madden will bring.

Robert Griffin III may not be on the cover (a positive) of the quarter century version of the annual virtual gaming experience, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t heavily featured in the trailer.

Check it out below:
