With the Washington Redskins in San Francisco before tomorrow’s matchup with the 49ers, this week’s Unofficial Visit previews today’s Stanford-California matchup.

Nick Sundberg interviews Trent Murphy and has some fun with him while holding the microphone, asking him what it’ll be like to see his former teammates go down to long snapper’s alma mater.

Murphy, of course, attended Stanford where during an incredible senior season he recorded 15 sacks.

Sundberg, meanwhile, played and started 52 games for California during a four-year career.

So, will Murphy’s Cardinal leave today’s game still with a firm grip on the Axe, or will Sundberg’s Bears finally get the hardware again?

Akeem “@Da_DREAM47” Davis is officially a member of the Twitterverse.

Originally a college free agent out of the University of Memphis, Davis has made some noise this year for the Washington Redskins, especially on specials teams where he’s leveled a few returners.

His path to a member of the Redskins’ active roster certainly wasn’t easy, as NFL Network has shown on “Undrafted” — a six-part series that airs each Tuesday through Dec. 9, with special advance premieres each week after “Thursday Night Football.”

Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay returns to San Francisco — home city to a 49ers franchise

that was led to multiple Super Bowl championships by Sean’s grandfather, John.

Hired in 1978 to reconstruct a 49ers franchise that was coming off a 2-14 season, McVay — who served in several roles different roles including general manager — would turnaround the franchise quickly.

“After he was the head coach of the Giants, he got a chance to get on board with Coach Bill Walsh and those guys when they first got there,” McVay said. “He was kind of in an executive role and his role grew over the years and he was able to be a part of five championship teams.

“It was a real special thing for him.”

Jim Haslett Shares His Own Buffalo Snow Story

Jim Haslett understands the predicament the Buffalo Bills are currently facing.

Currently the defensive coordinator of the Washington Redskins, Haslett spent his first seven seasons as an NFL player with the Bills.

The Bills have been unable to practice, as they’ve been trapped by feet of snow. But, they’re still preparing to play this Sunday regardless of how much white stuff is around.

“We played Denver one year and it was the same deal,” Haslett said. “We had probably 13 to 14 foot of snow and we couldn’t get to the stadium, so we didn’t practice Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. … we had a walk through on Saturday and we beat Denver 9-6. So we were all chanting: ‘No more practice!’

“We had no practice and beat them.”

Dealing with snow during most of fall and winter, Haslett believes that when the storm does finally stop, the city will get back to normal quickly.

“I love Buffalo,” he said. “It’s a great place to live. They love their town. They love their city. They love their football team. They sellout all the time and they love it. They’ll play that game. They’ll have everybody in the city out shoveling that stadium to play that game.”
