The founder of reddit, and proud Washington Redskins fan, Alexis Ohanian, recently filmed the final episode of his web series “Small Empires” in Washington, D.C., while wearing his Alfred Morris jersey by the Lincoln Memorial steps.

Ohanian will be announcing shortly the winners of his annual ticket contest in which two reddit Redskins fans will join him for the Dallas Cowboys game to end the season at FedExField.

Ohanian recently returned as Executive Chairman of reddit, the open online platform where millions of users can share and create content and form communities.

Ashley Caldwell: Olympian and Redskins Fan

Posted by Ross Hollebon on January 24, 2014 – 6:02 pm

Ashley CaldwellLoudoun County, Va. native Ashley Caldwell is now a two-time Olympian after being named to the U.S. Skiing squad for the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

Now 20 years old, Caldwell participated in the aerials event during 2010 in Vancouver as the youngest member of the entire U.S. team (16 years old), realizing an Olympic dream after combining a childhood of gymnastics and skiing.

She also happens to be a lifelong Washington Redskins fan.

Caldwell has competed in the NFL’s Punt, Pass, and Kick competition multiple times at FedExField and often displays her fandom when she is flying through the sky as a skiing aerialist.

Her skis are decorated with the Redskins logotype and colors as she shoots into the air, twirling, flipping and spinning before making her way back to the ground to stick her landing.

It isn’t often we get the opportunity to sit back as an organization and just be fans, but thanks to Caldwell we will get that opportunity next month.

We look forward to cheering as she competes for gold, and allows us to flip the script for our social media “Fan Fridays” as we cover her journey, provide additional background and exclusive footage from the Games and the moments surrounding them.

Congrats, Ashley! We’re excited to cheer you on and follow you on Twitter @AshleySkis.

A Second RGIII McFarlane Figure

Posted by Ross Hollebon on September 1, 2013 – 6:22 pm

RG3-series32Last November Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III not only spearheaded a 7-game winning streak to help capture the NFC East division title, but he also made his McFarlane’s SportsPicks debut.

His initial 6” figure sported the home dark jersey and yellow pants (though the company also released limited edition versions of the figure in white jersey/white pants and the 1937 throwback uniform worn on the field in 2012).

That was series 31 of the sports figure line.

Guess who is also in series 32?

After taking the NFL by storm in his rookie season and winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, RGIII has once again been cast as a 6” action figure.RG3-series-32-package

The new version, which hit store shelves during training camp in August, appears in scrambling pose. While it is a little bit easier to contain RGIII at this size, it is still hard to tell if he is about throw the ball downfield or tuck-and-run. Lucky for most of us, we only have to put it on a mantle, shelf or desk and not defend against him.

You can find the newest Robert Griffin III McFarlane figure online or at the Redskins Hall of Fame Store at FedExField.

(McFarlane Toys also made a limited edition version without a helmet, with an oversized head to show more detail and likeness to RGIII, so be on the lookout for that one too.)
