DeAngelo Hall was put under the spotlight in a test of his social media knowledge.

The three-time Pro Bowler has been on NFL Network most of Monday as the defensive backs have gone through drills at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

While at Lucas Oil Stadium his Twitter game, along with his familiarity with what some of his teammates tweet, was discussed.

First was a tweet following the National Championship Game in which one-loss Ohio State was crowned the victors of college football.

That one loss was suffered against Hall’s Virginia Tech.

“We beat them first game of the season, but they got better and we got worse,” he admitted to Molly Qerim. “But that quarterback they got [Cardale Jones] is definitely, you know, he’s a good player. I think if we’d have faced him, it probably would have been a different outcome. But, we were just hittin’ on all cylinders that day and the Hokies came out with the win.”

Next was a photo of his daughter with the family’s new puppy.

“That’s my daughter, Bre, and our new dog Teddy, whose about 15 weeks now,” he said. “Everybody on their Christmas list wanted the dog. We have six kids: three girls, three boys. And so everybody wanted a dog, so they got a dog.”

Who Said That?

Next was a game guessing what his teammates tweet out from time to time.

The “Talk Of Fame Sports Network” recently added a new poll to their website asking fans to vote for the football team they thought was the best to have never won a Super Bowl.

The 1983 Redskins are currently in the lead over three contenders: the 2007 Patriots, the 1990 Bills and the 1969 Vikings.

That specific Redskins team was an offensive juggernaut, tallying more than 6,000 yards and became, at the time, the first to score more than 500 points in the regular-season. The defense also ranked first in interceptions (34).

Legendary quarterback Joe Theismann earned MVP honors that season and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back John Riggins turned in a career year, rushing for 1,347 yards and 24 touchdowns.

The team went 14-2 for the season but ended up falling to the Raiders 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII.

Make sure you vote and represent that incredible year of play.

With hundreds of college prospects showcasing their talents to all 32 teams, they need someone who will not only coach them up properly, but ease their nerves.

On Sunday, Redskins linebackers coach Kirk Olivadotti  served that role, as he led some of the best prospects at that position through various drills.

Olivadotti returned to the Redskins in 2014 – with whom he spent 11 NFL seasons in various capacities from 2000-10 – after three years coaching inside linebackers at the University of Georgia from 2011-13.

He is one of 11 members of the Redskins’ assistant coach honor roll, which recognizes coaches with at least 10 seasons of service as an assistant in Washington.

“You are an African-American quarterback. You’re going to be judged a little different sometimes…Don’t believe the stereotype. Don’t believe them.”

Doug Williams, former Redskins quarterback and Super Bowl XXII MVP, shared that wisdom with young Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones yesterday as part of ESPN’s “Trailblazers: Past, Present, Future” series, celebrating Black History Month and its impact in sports.

Sitting alongside of anchor Jay Harris, Williams, the first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl, shared stories and gave out some sage advice to Jones, fresh off an improbable run leading the Buckeyes to a National Championship victory.

The discussion began, however, by examining the impact of Jones’ infamous tweet, which showed disdain for attending classes, a few years ago.

“You didn’t think it was a big deal, but you were in school, while you were coming to school,” Williams said. “We understand the football part of it, but at the end of the day, if you’re not eligible you can’t play anyway. Therefore, it should have never been out there when you look at it.

“The good thing about it, a couple weeks ago, when you announced you were coming back to school, I think whatever you tweeted out there a couple years ago should be put to rest. You let them know that school is important.” Read more »
