While all the honors went to Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper Saturday night, all the attention seemed to be placed on Redskins great Joe Theismann.
As the keynote speaker during the banquet for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, presented annually to the most outstanding college wide receiver by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Theismann followed an impressive line of speakers in years past that include Bart Starr, Mike Ditka and Dick Vermeil.
The speaking engagement allowed those in attendance to snap a few pics and even take home his autograph before Cooper received his award.
Theismann is “a much sought-after motivational speaker,” the night’s program noted, which also illustrated his Redskins’ records for passing yardage (25,206), completions (2.044) and attempts (3,602).
A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Theismann led Washington to a 27-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII and was named the recipient of the 2013 Walter Camp Football Foundation “Distinguished American”Award.
Here were some more excited reactions to his presence last night.
