Robb Akey Tweets Out He’s ‘Excited About The Future’

Go ahead and give new Washington Redskins defensive line coach Robb Akey (@RobbAkey) a follower on Twitter, Redskins fans.

While not every coach in the NFL is a member of the Twitterverse, Akey appears to be a pretty active member, and after it was confirmed that he’s heading to Washington to coach the defensive lineman he tweeted the following:

Akey started his coaching career in 1984 at Weber State, coaching tight ends, defensive ends and linebackers.

From there, he’s been a defensive coordinator for several other colleges and was even head football coach at Idaho for a few seasons.

During the 2014 season, Akey was an assistant defensive line coach for the Minnesota Vikings.

Former Redskin/Idaho alum Mark Schlereth, Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph and Steve Gleason were among those who congratulated Akey on Twitter:
