Wednesday, all across America, is National Signing day, when high school senior football players must make their decisions about where to attend school.
The choice is never particularly easy, however, in the case of Redskins linebacker Keenan Robinson, attending the University of Texas was the only option.
In a Longhorns video feature, highlighting former players and their memories of signing day, Robinson reflects on the recruiting process and making his final decision as a senior at Plano East High School.
“It was pretty cool. We did it at our high school. I think my whole team had seven, eight, nine guys that were all committed,” said Robinson. “We were all in the gym and once we were all signing , it kind of became surreal that we were really doing this and that we were signing a step closer to our dreams.”
Robinson admits in the interview that his head coach Mack Brown validated all of the promises he made on the recruiting trail. It made his Texas experience that much more enjoyable and affirming.
Robinson played from 2008-11 and graduated with a degree in applied learning and development. He was a two-time Butkus Award semifinalist, posting 317 tackles for his career while finishing his senior season on the second team All-Big 12 list.
