It took David Hassell four fittings to get the final results for his Redskins prosthetic leg. In the end, using various materials, his cutout, glued and laminated logos look professionally done.
A lifelong native of Harrisburg, Pa., Hassell, 49, became a Redskins fan in sixth grade, following the lead of a few classmates who were diehard fans. Ever since, he’s been cheering on the team and showing his pride.
A serious fall in May 2008 took his leg, but Hassell is still happy he can walk and drive. The new reality, however, prevented him from going to work and attending more games at FedExField. But, as he wrote to The Redskins Blog, he was determined to show his support with his new leg.
Hassell, who is a founder of a local car club, has collected several Redskins items in his room, including a signed football from cheerleaders he got several years ago.
Hopefully he’ll get out to another game soon.
