It took David Hassell four fittings to get the final results for his Redskins prosthetic leg. In the end, using various materials, his cutout, glued and laminated logos look professionally done.

A lifelong native of Harrisburg, Pa., Hassell, 49, became a Redskins fan in sixth grade, following the lead of a few classmates who were diehard fans. Ever since, he’s been cheering on the team and showing his pride. Read more »

So, acclaimed actor, Redskins fan and now bushy beard grower Matthew McConaughey won’t be up for an Oscar this year.

However, his reign over the awards season red carpets was still strong this past month thanks to his haunting performance in last year’s True Detective.

The HBO hit got him nominated as a lead actor in a television drama for The Golden Globes and Screen Actor Guild Awards, which allowed him to be a presenter, too.

Back in November, in between promoting his film Interstellar, McConaughey was also given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Brad Labanow, 28, has a tattoo that leaves its mark deeper than the skin. Labanow, who lives in Marana, Ariz., has a 1970’s-esque Redskins logo on his right shoulder.

And even though he was wearing a vintage Redskins shirt around downtown Phoenix during the week of Super Bowl XLIX, he said he does not need to wear a shirt or hat to show his love for the team.

His decision was easy.

“I was like, ‘Yep, that’ll work. I’ll do that,’” said Labanow, pulling up his sleeve over the weekend to expose the tattoo to the Arizona sun. “Even though we haven’t done well since ’92 it seems like, it’s still something I’m proud of. It’ll always be on there.”

The Leg Behind Super Bowl XXVI Victory

The Washington Redskins cemented their place in history 23 years ago today when they defeated the Buffalo Bills 37-24 in Super Bowl XXVI.

Not only did they capture their third Lombardi Trophy in a 10-year span, but they became the first team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl with three different quarterbacks under center.

The Redskins entered the game fresh off a 41-10 walloping of the Detroit Lions at RFK Stadium in the NFC Championship Game while the Bills squeaked by the Denver Broncos 10-7.

And just like the Redskins did in their victory over the Broncos in Super Bowl XXII, Washington used a big-time second quarter to take a huge lead into halftime over the Bills.

While the score was 0-0 after the first quarter, the Redskins scored 17 unanswered points in the second quarter, starting with a Chip Lohmiller’s 34-yard field goal.

Then, after forcing the Bills into a three-and-out, Earnest Byner capped over a 51-yard drive with a 10-yard score.

On the ensuing Buffalo drive, Pro Football Hall Of Fame cornerback Darrell Green recorded an interception that would set up the first of two Gerald Riggs touchdowns.

Then in the second half, Riggs would score that second touchdown, Gary Clark struck gold with a 30-yard touchdown connection with Mark Rypien — who was later named Super Bowl MVP — and Lohmiller would convert on two more field goal attempts.

By the end, it was more than enough to defeat Bills.

As far as Rypien — who threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns — he would appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the caption ‘Let ‘Er Rip.’

While Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams ultimately did not play in last night’s Pro Bowl, he wants to make sure his jersey, in pristine condition, goes to someone who can have use of it.

Williams — who has been selected to three-straight Pro Bowls — wrote on Instagram that he’s giving away his 2015 Pro Bowl jersey to the “last comment.”

Oh, and it’s going to be signed by the man himself, too.

How awesome is that?

I'm doing a jersey give away, last comment wins my 2015 pro bowl jersey signed by me.

A post shared by Trent Williams (@trentwilliams71) on

Williams did not give any sort of end date to when he’ll take that last comment, so make sure to write on his post and keep your eyes glued to any updates he might have.

No. 46 in the burgundy and gold helmet on Sunday got one final opportunity to break a few tackles before officially getting his offseason underway.

Redskins running back Alfred Morris, playing for Team Carter, played in his second-straight Pro Bowl, collecting 29 yards rushing and receiving in the 32-28 Team Irvin victory at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

Here’s a recap of the Redskins’ social media activity during the game, beginning with an injury update on left tackle Trent Williams, who was supposed to play Sunday for Team Irvin in his third-straight Pro Bowl appearance:
