It was announced today that Redskins running back Alfred Morris will be named to his second Pro Bowl in place of Eagles running back LeSean McCoy.
This was the third consecutive year Morris rushed for over 1,000 yards and second straight selection to the Pro Bowl, once again joining one of his blockers, offensive tackle Trent Williams, for the game, this time held in Glendale, Ariz. on Jan. 25.
Morris finished the year with 1,074 yards rushing, 155 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, one more than last year.
“Alf” had quite the Pro Bowl debut as a member of Deion Sanders’ hand picked squad last year, leading all players with 69 receiving yards on four catches from quarterback Cam Newton.
During the practice week in Hawaii, Morris admitted over Twitter he was a little winded after getting back onto the field but clearly shook things off come game time.
Check out the video (click the picture) below of his time practicing with the squad, remembering plays and chatting it up with other NFL players during his “mic’d up” session.
Last year, the honorary captains, Hall-of-Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders, practically forgot about Morris during their unconferenced selections. Eventually Team Sanders took Morris in the 19th round after Rice had filled up his three running back position limit.
This year, HOF wide receivers Michael Irvin and Cris Carter will be given team captain duties. Let’s hope they paid attention to last year’s game.
