If you’re a fan of reunions and re-enactments, this story is for you.

The New York Jets recently announced the hiring of head coach Todd Bowles, a former defensive back for the Redskins.

Earlier this week, the Jets also hired Mike Maccagnan as their new general manager. Maccagnan was so eager to meet Bowles that he took a driver with him to the airport to greet the new head coach as he stepped off the plane.

The significance?

25 years ago an identical scene occurred when Maccagnan, then an intern with the Redskins, picked up Bowles at the airport.

“When we first met, it was immediately clear how sincere and very real he is,” Maccagnan said in an ESPN article. “While he appreciates the need for discipline, players love playing for him, and I believe he has outstanding qualities to help make the Jets a competitive, winning team.”

Redskins interns, it’s a bright day.
