Redskins running back Silas Redd Jr. takes his education seriously.

He announced on Twitter today that he has returned to USC to complete his degree and earn his diploma.

Redd told The Redskins Blog that he promised his mother he would finish school, and that doing so would be the biggest accomplishment of his life.

He’s aiming to complete six classes during the spring semester before he needs to report back.

He’ll also have some company with former Trojans Marquise Lee, Nickell Robey, Demetrius Wright Jr. and Robert Woods all attempting to finish their degrees, too.

Best of luck, Silas!

Redskins legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrell Green’s philanthropic efforts are being recognized and appreciated, as his 25th annual “Christmas With The Redskins” has been nominated for Best Charity Event of the Year for the fourth annual Black Celebrity Giving Awards.

Joined by current Redskins Robert Griffin III, Alfred Morris, Chris Chester, Shawn Lauvao, Kedric Golston, Keenan Robinson, DeAngelo Hall, Bashaud Breeland and Akeem Davis, Green opened the doors to more than 175 kids in need that received shoes, clothes and other gifts.

“I have been doing this for 25 years and it’s always the same,” Green said at the event. “It’s a privilege to wake up this morning and think right and be willing to care about other people. As a young man coming into this city and coming into this profession, I just had a vision and take the influence that came with that job and the resources and access, and I wanted to turn it into something with benefits. Think about other people.”

From now until Jan. 18 at 8 p.m., fans can vote for “Christmas With The Redskins” as the Best Charity Event Of The Year at this link.

Winners will be announced online via @BlkCelebGiving (Twitter and Instagram) at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19th in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

What might possibly be the strangest, and definitely the coolest, piece of sports memorabilia could be yours.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will be auctioning off his team-signed ankle cast– the one that shielded his dislocation near the start of the 2014 season– in order to raise money for his “Family of 3” foundation.

The last day to bid is February 13 by 6 pm.

“After dislocating his ankle in the September 14th game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Robert was forced to wear this cast,” the foundation’s website reads. “In a show of support for their teammate, the entire team signed the cast. Notable signatures include: Alfred Morris, DeAngelo Hall, Desean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and many more.”

The “Family of 3” foundation works to support people’s dreams who need help achieving them.

So far, Griffin III is aiding a medically retired Marine, who suffered a penetrating brain injury as well as a young student living with Cerebral Palsy.

As the foundation’s message reads, “I want people to understand that their dreams aren’t out of reach, and that anything is possible. As a collective Family, we will  strive to create meaningful networks for people in our everyday lives by providing them with access to the tools and resources necessary to reach their fullest potential. Most importantly, we want to provide hope, support and opportunity to all and be that extra push people need in order to realize and catch their dreams.”

Griffin is also selling five versions of motivational wristbands, offering different colors for “#ThisIsForUs” and “Know Your Why” messages.

We’d love to hear back from the winner of this item. How do you display it? Where do you put it? Can you identify all the players’ signatures?

So many questions, but great ones to have.

Like many Redskins fans watching the Dallas Cowboys-Green Bay Packers game yesterday, YouTube user Ian R. was pretty excited about the final outcome — a 26-21 Green Bay victory.

While it appeared that the Cowboys were in good position to take the lead late in the game on a Tony Romo-Dez Bryant connection that would have put Dallas on the one-yard line, the referees overturned their original call of a catch.

Sure, many Redskins fans chimed in on Twitter letting all of their followers know of how excited they were, but Ian took it to another level with a catchy tune.

Washington Redskins defensive lineman Chris Baker was at Sports Authority Field at Mile High yesterday, supporting his best friend Terrance Knighton.

Baker and Knighton — a defensive lineman himself for the Denver Broncos — go way back, as they’ve known since their days at Windsor (Conn.) High School.

The two were teammates at Windsor along with San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Damik Scafe.

As Baker wrote on Instagram in 2013, the trio made a pact that they’d all play college ball and then the NFL.

And it’s come true.

Capture

“It was all a dream we said, ‘Yo, lets all go D1’. Did that then we said, ‘Yo, we got to make it to the #nfl.’ Did that! My whole high school d-line is in the NFL,” Baker captioned the photo.
