There will be some offensive firepower sprinkled into masses at Redskins Park this Saturday for Inova’s blood drive, as former Redskins running back Ricky Ervins will be joining fellow alums Ken Harvey and Dexter Manley at the event.
From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Inova will be holding a blood drive at the team’s headquarters in Loudoun County, Va., where there will be a ton of neat activities, but, of course, most important is the opportunity to help save lives.
Inova Blood Donor Services supplies 24 hospitals in Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C., metro area with lifesaving blood and blood products. One blood donation can save up to three lives.
While at the Park, you can get a limited edition Redskins shirt, a VIP Tour of the facility, a picture with the Super Bowl Trophies and the chance to win a 2015 VIP Game Experience including two premium tickets, the opportunity to stand on the field during the National Anthem and more.
Ervins — a USC product — spent four seasons with the Redskins in which he recorded more than 2,000 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. He recorded his first-career touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in a 42-17 Redskins victory.
In Super Bowl XXVI vs. Buffalo, Ervins had a team-high 72 rushing yards.
Be sure to check back with The Redskins Blog each day as the blood drive nears, as we’ll have new information on alumni appearances.
