Love was in the air while the Washington Redskins warmed up to take on the Dallas Cowboys in their season finale at FedExField.
While the Redskins went through their pregame routines on the field, a marriage proposal took place along the sidelines.
As captured by Redskins Gametime Live! Presented by Verizon, Brian Pitt, from La Canada, Calif., got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Lindsay Altmire from Damascus, Md.
“I was thinking about it in July,” he said afterward. “Redskins PR has been great. I gave them a call in late November. We talked on the phone and they helped me with the whole way of doing it on the field. It was a great idea.”
The couple, who now live in Los Angeles, were visiting Altmire’s family for the holidays. As a gift to her family, they got pregame sideline passes.
What Altmire didn’t know, however, was that she was the one in for the big surprise.
Of course, she said yes.
“Very surprised,” she said. “I didn’t think he could keep a secret from me. I can’t believe he pulled it off.”
Football has been a very important part of their relationship. Together, they have attended numerous games on the west coast, as well as plenty of Redskins games.
When it came time to pop the question, he couldn’t think of a better setting than the home stadium of his now-fiancé’s favorite team.
“She’s one of the biggest Redskins fans,” he said. “Her Dad had season tickets growing up for them. We knew we’d be here for Christmas time. I couldn’t think of a better idea than to do it on the field.”
Lindsay, a “born and raised” Redskins fan of 28 years, has seen plenty of memorable games played by her favorite team.
However, none of those memories will compare to the one made on Sunday afternoon.
“This is the best one,” she said as they sealed the moment with a kiss.
