At first inspection, a Redskins helmet, let alone any helmet, doesn’t appear to be the most comfortable place for a newborn to take a nap. But, then just a tiny little guy, Joshua James Murrell II (known as JJ2) didn’t seem to mind one bit.

The idea for the photo, taken by a family photographer (ImagesByTiffany.net), came from the father in the picture, Josh, cradling (and christening?) his son as a Redskins fan.

Josh, his wife Luisa claims, is a “crazy obsessed” Redskins fan and borrowed the helmet from his man cave for the spectacular black and white (and burgundy and gold) shot.

Luisa is from Texas but ever since she married Josh she knows more about the Redskins than any other team. His devotion is unmatched.

“Ever since we became season ticket holders, he has only missed one game (for our wedding),” she wrote to the Redskins blog. “He goes to every game at least four hours before kickoff so we’re there for the parking lot to open up. [He] has a full Redskins tailgate, wears head to toe Redskins clothes, paints his face, and yells like crazy.”

The couple lives in Stafford, Va. and their son is now a year and four months old.

It’s safe to say he’ll be a Redskins fan when he grows up.

Redskins players took to social media today for Throwback Thursday.

Let’s have a look at what they shared.

Former running back Clinton Portis  remembered his friend Sean Taylor on Instagram as seen above.

The seventh-anniversary of Taylor’s tragic death recently passed, as did the premiere of ESPN’s “The U: Part 2,” which featured both Portis and Taylor playing for the University of Miami in their historic 2001 season.

Wide receiver Pierre Garcon, meanwhile, posted a picture from the Mount Union College archives.

His former team, the Purple Raiders, will be battling in the Stagg Bowl for the Division III National Championship on Friday.

Defensive end Jarvis Jenkins pulled out a photo from training camp, hugging a couple of young fans.

Cornerback DeAngelo Hall, meanwhile, posted a picture of three of his four kids (including his twins) when they were younger.

We even got in on the fun, posting a photo from 1978, when running back John Riggins leapt over Eagles defenders for a touchdown.

It’s getting cold out, which means more fans, especially those attending the final two games of the season, are breaking out their warm Redskins gear.

We were lucky to stumble upon this picture of a young fan, wearing a snug fleece with a unique burgundy and gold design.

How will you be keeping warm and representing the Redskins for the last two home games?

We love finding gems like these.

A fan posted this colorful Redskins jacket to the “Redskins Die Hard Members” Facebook group yesterday. It’s not your average design.

It incorporates the logo and adds in the Washington Monument and U.S. Capital Building in the foreground of a gold sky.

What’s on your holiday wish list for Redskins gear?

Smashing Walnuts Foundation Presents First $100,000 Grant
Robert Griffin III Focused On Last Two Games

Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garçon over the last few weeks has used Timehop — an app that lets you look back at posts from years ago on a specific day — to reflect on life.

While he’s had a good laugh about himself while using Timehop, on Tuesday he reflected with an inspirational quote from Gabriella Miller.

Still words to live by. 🙏❤️ #timehop

A post shared by Pierre Garcon (@pierregarcon) on

Miller passed away in late 2013 after being diagnosed with a walnut-sized, inoperable brain tumor.

In her honor, the Smashing Walnuts Foundation was created to continue raising awareness of and funds for finding a cure for childhood brain cancer.

The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation in August hosted a $100,000 grant presentation on behalf of the Smashing Walnuts Foundation.

While Gabriella may no longer be with us, her spirit and impact continues to be felt to this day.

Jarrett Hatley, a prior Corporal with the U.S. Marine Corps, didn’t think a picture of him taking a quick nap under his Redskins blanket would get so much international attention, but it did once it was seen in the background of the tweet the team sent out confirming the signing of wide receiver DeSean Jackson this past April.

“One of my friends texted me that picture, and I didn’t even notice our picture in the background,” Hatley said, a Redskins fan from North Carolina. “I was like, ‘All right, DeSean Jackson signed with the Redskins! That’s cool.’ “And then I looked in the background, and I was like, ‘Oh, shoot! That’s me!’”

The award-winning photo — “Let Sleeping Dog Lie” — was taken by Reece Lodder, a sergeant with the Marines.

During preseason this year, the two were invited to Redskins Park where they got to see their now famous photo hanging in the front conference room and they were eventually honored at FedExField, too.

The two also met President/general manager Bruce Allen, where Hatley talked about his refusal to accept a Giants blanket before receiving a gift.

A true Redskins fan locally and while overseas defending our country.

5 Takeaways: Dec. 17 Jay Gruden Presser

Washington Redskins wide receiver Andre Roberts channels most of his energy onto the field. But when he has some free time, he uses the rest to tickle the ivory.

Roberts posted a video of himself last night playing piano and singing a cover of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man.”

It’s pretty impressive, especially the falsetto he hits near the end.

It provokes some questions: Can he sing more than ballads? Can he and Bruno Mars collaborate at some point? What should he practice next?
