“Big time players step up in big time games!”
Santana Moss did. As did Clinton Portis and Sean Taylor.
After ESPN’s capturing of the University of Miami’s dominant and controversial run through the 1980’s and 1990’s set recorded views, the network is airing part two of its ‘The U’ documentary this Saturday after the Heisman Trophy presentation.
Based on the preview, this episode will apparently center around the program’s historic 2001 season, when they steamrolled through the competition en route to a perfect 12-0 record that was bookmarked by a 37-14 drubbing of Nebraska in the National Championship Game.
While Moss — the opener for the trailer — had already taken his talents to the NFL during that season, Portis and Taylor were major contributors on that team.
Portis recorded 240 carries for 1,304 yards and 11 touchdowns along with 16 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown, while Taylor — a freshman — recorded several big-time tackles and was named Big East Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance against Pittsburgh.
