Thirteen-year-old Jake Robinson on Nov. 23 experienced what almost no one his age ever has.
As fans began to fill the stands at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., to watch the Washington Redskins take on the San Francisco 49ers, Robinson was joining the media in the press box.
“I got to the stadium about 45 minutes before kickoff,” Robinson wrote on NFLRush.com. “I went to media will call and picked up my credentials. I took an elevator up to the 8th floor (the top) and walked out and into the press box. It was incredibly different from what it’s like to be in the crowd.
Robinson said the press box’s working environment was “strangely quiet” and that “you can’t hear the crowd at all.”
“Also, you are surrounded by working adults with computers and tablets,” he wrote.
Shortly before the game ended, Robinson headed to the field level where he would wait with the rest of the media to interview the players.
Eventually getting over to the press conference room to ask quarterback Robert Griffin III a question, Robinson also had the chance to interview quarterback Colt McCoy, running back Alfred Morris, wide receiver Pierre Garcon and linebacker Keenan Robinson while they were in the locker room.
